Nestled in the heart of JABIRU, a charming Thai restaurant emerges as an oasis amid the heat. Diners rave about the open-air ambiance, where delicious offerings like curry puffs, Pad Thai, and flavorful red curry shine. The menu caters well to vegans, featuring tofu options for every dish alongside clearly labeled seafood-free items. While service is generally efficient, guests advise management to address minor issues like fluctuating quality and the persistent presence of flies. Overall, this dining spot is a delightful find, providing generous servings at reasonable prices, perfect for those exploring Kakadu's beauty.
I stumbled upon this hidden gem in the middle of the park just when I thought I wouldn't have a good meal during my time in Jabiru. This wonderful spot feels like an oasis, with an open-air dining area, a nearby pool, and fairy lights hanging above. I enjoyed delicious curry puffs, Pad Thai, and red curry. The waitress was very attentive and immediately asked if I was vegan when I inquired about eggs. Despite vegan options not being listed on the menu, they were able to accommodate with tofu substitutes for all dishes and clearly labeled seafood-free options. They even had vegan homemade ice cream! I am writing this review at my table because I want everyone to know about this amazing restaurant when visiting Kakadu.
On a scorching day in Jabiru, with temperatures reaching 38 degrees, we made our way to Anabinik Caravan Park and immediately headed to the pool. To our surprise, there was a Thai restaurant conveniently located nearby, offering a wide range of vegan options with tofu as a choice for all dishes. We decided to try the Thai Basil and Chili with Tofu and Thai Red Curry with Tofu served with rice. The dishes were full of flavorful vegetables and were served promptly, despite the persistent presence of flies that were managed by a clever contraption. Each dish cost $25, and we also enjoyed some slightly sweet but refreshing fruit drinks. (Translated from the original review posted on September 4, 2020)
I was pleasantly surprised to find a great dining option in the middle of the park in Jabiru. The Esszone restaurant feels like an oasis with its open air setting, pool nearby, and peaceful ambiance. I enjoyed the curry puffs, pad thai, and red curry, all of which were delicious. The waitress was very accommodating when I inquired about vegan options, and they have tofu available for all dishes and clearly labeled seafood-free dishes. They even had a vegan homemade ice cream! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Kakadu.
Delicious Thai food. There was a huge wait while we were there (because it was good Friday and it was packed) but the staff were really friendly and had great customer service so we didn't mind.
Even during the off-peak season, this restaurant was bustling, and it's easy to see why. The service was quick and welcoming, while the food was both authentic and delicious. The Cashew Tofu Vegetable stir-fry was outstanding, and the vegetarian Pad Thai was also fantastic. The Lemongrass tea was the perfect refreshment after a long, hot day of walking. I highly recommend this place!
