We had a very good meal at Armandos. The staff, while maybe a bit smaller than it should have been, were very friendly and tried very hard to get everyone their food in a timely manner. We have to realize that while on vacation, some things may take a little bit longer than we are used to, and we just rolled with it. It was fun to sit up top and look out over Ixtapa and all that was going on, so the time went quite q... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Armandos Lobster House:
This restaurant never had good food, the service was terrible, the music was terrible, the ambience was also terrible. It has not opened this year and a new restaurant is moving in. View all feedback.
My wife and I dined here after having walked passed it many times in the last three years while wintering in Ixtapa.During the course of dining I had two margaritas....the first one was good and the second one wasn't. They over did one of the...ingredients and it just didn't taste very good. It's hard to understand how two of the same drinks can be so different from the same bartender. Mean while, my wife ordered the garlic fillet and I ordered the ribs. While waiting, the server brought out fresh prepared salsa and a basket of garlic bread that in my opinion had way to much garlic on it. I had to ask for tortilla chips for the salsa and the server took along time to bring them to our table. The main dishes were brought out in a timely fashion and the presentation was fine. My wife mentioned that the garlic fillet red snapper tasted different than any other she's ever had and definitely not the best she has ever had. Her sides were rice and vegetables......they were fine. The rib dinner was served with a rotten baked potato that was topped with sour cream and shredded cheese. How they didn't know the potato was spoiled is beyond me since it was sliced open during preparation and was black in color through out. When it was brought to the servers attention he apologized, removed it and didn't offer to replace it with another potato or rice. The vegetables served with the ribs were fine. The ribs consisted of mostly cartilage without a single rib bone. The meat was cooked thoroughly but was pretty tough. The barbeque sauce served on the ribs was adequate. To finish this review I have to add that the ladies restroom didn't have running water.....with only a bowl of water provided for hand washing.
A group of 12 of us went here at 19 o'clock a night. it was opposite the hotel. there was only one other table of two people. service was good. Eating was okay. there were some mix-ups in plates. with the right order. they had no grief as they would think. I probably wouldn't go back. it needs a very good cleaning, and some color
Went to Armando's Lobster House around 7:00pm on a Friday evening. Only one other table was occupied, first clue. My 10 year old ordered the fish soup and enjoyed the large portion which include 3 large shrimp....with the heads on. Dad had to fix that...but they were very good as was the soup itself. I ordered the fried calamari which was stuffed but was so overcooked I couldn't tell what the stuffing was. My wife and daughter went to the restroom and returned a little frightened. Seemed to be a lack of toilet paper and running water, second clue. My wife ordered the grilled lobster tail and the waiter returned and said they were out! UMMM? It's a lobster house! Should have left but I'm stubborn. She had the Chicken Diana Ross, which was just ok. I had ordered the bacon rapped shrimp which was very good and came with six large shrimp. I did really enjoy the entrée. Daughter had the Grilled Shrimp and Grilled Lobster Tail (must have been different kind of lobster tail). The shrimp was bland but the grilled lobster tail was very good. Drinks were unremarkable. I had not read any reviews and we had not expected to eat out that night and it was right across from the Sunscape Dorado. I caught the tip trick! The amount of the tip was written small below the drinks with not description. I asked and he said it was a 10% tip. The service was good and he may have gotten more except for that! Would NEVER go back, and let several people at the Sunscape know!
One of our friends caught a sailfish earlier in the day and they cooked it up for us! And did a wonderful job! The pico de gallo was delicious as was the octopus! Not sure what the bad reviews were for we had a great...experience here. We made sure to come back one more time before we left.
Our night for dinner here was wasted. The lobster looked bad, tasted bad.....my husband's steak was like rubber. The service was slow......never to eat here again. Such a shame, as this restaurant has a good location......but a waste of money.
