Hippopotamus - Istres

The hippo was nice setting. The food was fresh. The steak was bland but tender. Salt and pepper fixed it in spot. The smoothies were very delicious and fresh. The mango was good and presentation colorful. All there drinks are colorful.

We wee about 20 persons arriving late in the evening without reservation on a saturday night. The service was a little stiff as cuisine was closing, personnel was not prepared to sudden visit and getting orders coused some distress due to the big group. . We decided to order steaks (most of us) and frites and an appetizer. Setitng is ok, seating also ok. Meant for small groups/couples. Food quality was good, recommendable. It was a littel difficult to get drinks as they only had bottled beers and apparently it was a little chaotic to be understood when ordering. Overall the feeling was to be luck to get something to eat with good quality, but at the same time to have a poor value for money due to the expensive bill in the end. Medina expense was 35€ for 2 beers 1 steak plate.

1er point, la qualité de la viande ! Excellente ! Par contre, jour de mistral lors de notre visite, et odeur désagréable à l'intérieur, d'après la serveuse, cela arrive par jour de grand vent. Le service est sympathique, professionnel mais manquant un peu de cordialité. Je conçois qu'un groupe de 8 n'est pas facile à servir, mais rester froid et distant face à qqs blagues ou petits mots humoristiques rendent le contact peu chaleureux. La note grimpe vite (comme souvent..) avec apero et vins...

Après 2 visites c'est sûr nous n'irons plus.... trop cher pour si peu de qualité, même buffalo fait mieux ! Déçue moi qui adore la viande.
