What Meena R doesn't like about Faros Old City:
This is a very typical touristy place like most in Sultanahmet... I had orders lentil soup and meatballs with rice and salad.. The lentil solid is decent... The meatballs were over fried with excess salt and they forgot my salad but remembered that I asked them not to give me fries... Tourists land here to eat pasta... If that's what U want.. Please go there View all feedback.
I always hit this place when in Istanbul. Nice menu diverse with great local and international choices.
I would have given this restaurant five stars, sans one thing. The food was phenomenal, the service was exceptional, and the ambiance was great. The one thing that nearly ruined the whole meal was a pushy employee at the end insisting we leave a Tripadvisor review. It's not that we wouldn't have happily done so, it's the fact that he wouldn't let us leave until we had. We tried several times, and were thwarted. I didn't have the Tripadvisor app (without which you can't write reviews) and he insisted I download it. Same with my two friends. My phone was dying, and he went and got his own charger so it loads enough for the app to open. He basically took my phone, added the stars himself, and submitted it. I wrote the review, but with an emotional gun to my head. That pushiness ruined the whole meal for us. No one wants to be treated that way at dinner. We won't be going back again, though before this happened we were thinking of making this our regular dinner spot. As for the food, it's delicious. Exceptional. The babaganoosh was phenomenal, the chicken to die for, and the steak WAS something to write home about. However, Cafe Amedros right next door has the exact same quality food, the same exact ambiance, and the same service, without the unpleasant post-dinner experience.
You know you aren't a restaurant that serves typical Turkish food, when your chef churns out a mean pasta but the traditional food sucks donkeyballs. Expensive and expensive.
Stoped in here for dinner one day and had an amazing meal. We bought a Mojito, had some of the bread, and 2 full entrees. Everything we had was perfect and extremely good. Full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Friendly staff and very welcoming as well. Awesome meal that won't break the bank. Definitely recommend!
