This restaurant is fantastic. It is a charming café with lovely decor. They serve delicious coffee and a wonderful variety of local cakes. Our group tried the hummingbird cake, coconut and lemon slice, chocolate muffin, and banana bread, and everyone was thrilled with their choices. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. We visited late in the afternoon and saw... View all feedback.

Highbury Corner may not be considered a secluded or undesirable location, but approaching it from Highbury and Islington station can make it seem like just another busy street intersection. The constant flow of buses from all directions and the challenge of navigating the circular traffic can create a chaotic atmosphere. I hardly ever write reviews but have to make an exception for my favourite cafe, Maison D'Etre. Yes, the coffee is excellent, the food is fresh and tasty and well prepared with delicious ingredients, the cakes are fabulous and the service is super-efficient; but those qualities are to be found in some other cafes. However, none of them compare with the remarkable Maison D'Etre, with its unique ambience. It's like a philosophy. The people who work there are happy all the time! The are happy to see you, happy to serve you, happy to chat to you. Their positive energy is wonderful. It makes me want to stay there and not return to work. These people are dangerous, in a good way :
The coffee here is excellent and made with great care. The staff are always pleased to see their customers and are friendly and cheerful. It is a comfortable place to sit and watch the traffic go by. It does get busy though at times!
Yes, might be a bold statement. However the coffee is divine. There are always cakes available too.The staff are great and build a real rapport with their customers which is often lost on big chain coffee shops.
Delicious food, friendly service and good location. Can be a bit busy on the weekends as all good places are, but if you're relaxed about waiting a bit for a table it's worth it.
Come for a quick bite. It has good coffee, friendly staff and great food with a good working wifi. It's also conveniently close to the station. A winner
