I visit regularly on Saturdays for pints of Five Points and to watch The Prem football. The food is all freshly prepared by chefs who care. The sourdough pizzas are as good as Yard Sale and I love the buffalo wings. Other options include fish n chips. Great pub. I’m always warming welcomed by Fin and the staff who run an excellent pub. What ElenaSophiaP doesn't like about Chequers:
It took us longer to order a drink than to actually drink it. We decided to go inside because it was raining, and we just wanted a quick pint. However, we were required to download an app, register, and place our order through the app. Even though the pub was empty and we already knew what we wanted, we asked if we could order from our table instead of using the app, but the staff did not respond to our question. Upon entering this pub, the first thing you notice is the outdated décor. While the distressed look may be back in style, it's clear when something is past its prime. The bar staff appear scruffy, which doesn't help the overall atmosphere. However, there is plenty of space including a large garden at the back and more benches outside. The entertainment often includes drag nights or drag bingo organized by locals, suggesting a possible shift towards a gay-friendly pub. I chose not to eat here, but could see the kitchen behind the bar. I opted for a bottled beer over draft in case the pipes weren't clean. This is a pub I might consider as a last resort.
This was already one of our favourite pubs having recently moved to the area from Seven Sisters! The vibes are immaculate the staff are so nice and it’s queer positive. We heard they’d started to do Sunday roasts so came after having 3 consecutive awful roasts at other Walthamstow places. We got beef and chicken and extra cauliflower cheese and it was SO good! About £15 each and worth every penny, better than some £22 places we’ve been to. Only flaw was a slightly colder Yorkshire but everything else was perfect! Cant wait to come back, deffo go down.
Visited the Chequers recently for a Sunday roast as we'd heard lots of good things about their food with a relatively new chef. It certainly did not disappoint! Succulent pork belly with crispy tasty crackling, roast beef cooked perfectly pink, homemade delicious Yorkshire puddings, crispy hot roast potatoes, delicious homemade gravey and perfectly cooked vegetables. We will definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Go early as they often sell out and I can see why!
I recently had a delightful Sunday roast at this restaurant while passing through the high street. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was absolutely fantastic! The beef was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were incredibly fluffy and flavorful.
