Away from the path of the Crete tourist area. This restaurant will provide a Greek home cooked meal. I ate here twice and it’s a traditional family restaurant. Just sit relax and enjoy, you’re in Crete there’s no rush… I had the daily fish dish and potato with a salad, simple and very good meal… my favorite meal was the grilled pork chop with steamed veggies. I’ve spent over 30 years in the pork business in the U.S.... View all feedback.
Absolutely amazing eating, dessert and alcohol. the beautiful couple was warm and welcoming. they took the time to introduce us to the menu items. everything here is homemade and changes depending on the day. You have to come by when you're in town.
17 days in Greece--our favorite restaurant. It is hard to describe how much I like Anchorage. Imagine going to your grandmother's house for Sunday dinner, and that your grandmother is a great cook! From the minute you step inside, Mrs. Irini and Captain John treat you like family. And like your grandmother's house, you do not have dozens of food items to choose from. A few dinner dishes; all that we tried on two occasions were excellent. Large portions and low prices equal tremendous value. Nothing we ate in Athens, Naxos, Rhodes, Santorini, or elsewhere in Crete compares. I tried unsuccessfully to talk Captain John into opening a restaurant in my home town of Los Angeles, so I guess we will have to return to Heraklion for the best in Cretin food.
Very cozy place, nice owners and tasty eating, I was them with a native who also loved it! I enjoyed my moments here
Super yummy homemade food. One of the very best in Crete! Owner is really nice and even served another plate of dessert after the kids licked the first plate clean.
Great cafe with top notch hospitality. Captain John and his wife took very good care of us and we also got treated to a juicy watermelon at the end of our meal
