Contribute FeedbackChantry Fish & Chips has recently undergone new management, sparking our interest to revisit after years. Opting for the chicken fillet burger meal, we were disappointed by the lack of salad and the overwhelming amount of sauce that masked the chicken's flavor. Some left-over chips were scraps, but the good ones were tasty. On the other hand, customers praising the freshness, generous portions, and delightful taste earn the establishment high recommendations. Although there were mixed reviews, the overall verdict leans towards giving Chantry Fish & Chips a try, especially for the competitive prices and friendly service.
I couldn't give an average rating because there were too many scraped chips, but the decent chips were tasty. I usually buy my chips from a closer place to home, but my dad used to pass by this chippy on the way home. I decided to give it a try to save myself a trip. As a vegetarian, my only option was chips, which sometimes meant waiting for them to be cooked. A half-box of chips cost £3.20, which was 40 pence more than my local spot, but if they were tasty and plentiful, I didn't mind. Unfortunately, there were only about 6 good-sized chips and the rest were small scraps about an inch long. The good chips were delicious, but the rest were lackluster. I had the last bite of chips before they ran out, and while I'm not sure why, I doubt I'll be back.
We hadn't tried Chantry Fish & Chips in years, but when we heard it was under new management, we decided to give it a try. My husband and I both opted for the chicken fillet burger meal this time. I asked if the burger came with salad, and was disappointed to find just a small amount of shredded lettuce. My husband had BBQ sauce on his burger, while I had chili sauce. Unfortunately, the overwhelming amount of sauce completely masked the flavor of the chicken on both burgers. I had to scrape off the chili sauce from mine because it was so spicy that my mouth was burning. I couldn't even finish my meal. The chips were decent, but overall, we were not impressed and probably won't be returning.
I recently visited the chip shop and was impressed with the freshness and amazing taste of the food. I would highly recommend this place as the prices are very reasonable and the customer service is perfect - the staff are very friendly and chatty.
Best fish and chips in ipswich! recently I was there. I ordered two large pieces of cod with chips. the chips were very good, and code was delicious, it was not oily, even not dry. I really enjoyed it. It was very generous, it was enough for us three. I took the curry sauce. very good service via the counter. will definitely recommend to others and will buy me from there again.
I couldnt give average, because too many scrappy chips, even thought the decent chips were nice. I usually purchase my chips from a shop closer to home, but seeing my Dad earlier and driving passed here on the way home, I thought I would save myself a journey and try out the new chippy. Being Veggie, I only have chips as often nothing available or I have to wait a while for it to be cooked. A cardboard half box costing £3.20, (40pence more than my local chippy. , but if nice and plenty of them, I didnt mind. Got home to find there was literally about 6 decent size chips *4/5 , and the rest were scrappy small ends of the potato about an inch long, the decent size chips where nice. Maybe I got the last of a batch of chips, before they fried more, I dont know, However, I will never find out, as I will not be back.
