**TL;DR:** This charming coffee shop is a hidden gem away from the bustling areas of Ancoats. It’s tucked inside Royal Mill, so you’ll need to know it’s there. Enter through the main entrance, walk past the reception, and you’ll find the café on the far right. The ambiance is dim but cozy, featuring plenty of exposed wood. They serve excellent coffee and delicious cakes, all in a relaxed environment. Every time we've visited, it's been busy in a pleasant way, not overcrowded. There’s ample seating with tables and long benches inside, or you can relax in the outdoor seating area, which is actually indoors but under glass, providing shelter from the elements. They also roast their own coffee, so you can grab a bag to take home.
The interior was spotless and trendy, making it a spot I'd love to revisit time and again. It was a spacious venue, complete with its own merchandise—something I plan to purchase someday—as well as a display case filled with delicious-looking, handmade treats that are a delightful departure from typical mass-produced items. I ordered a donut and a flat white, both of which were outstanding. Since I was on a coffee tour, I took my goodies outside and enjoyed them while sitting by the canal—a perfect view to complement my perfect coffee. I can't recommend this place enough, and I eagerly count down the days until I can return.
The cake was absolutely delicious, and the latte is one of the best I've ever had. The staff members are very friendly and helpful.
Crikey what a spot this is! Spent a good chunk of my morning here without even planning to. Set in the the old Royal Mill, so easily missable unless you've planned to head there in advance. Luckily for me I have this really handy app that I use everyday to plot my next adventure, said app directed me to a coffee shop in Ancoats that I had never visited before and one that was rated 5 stars by some fellow users of said app. Basically, I needed a coffee, pulled out Yelp, found Ancoats Coffee Co, mapped out directions and headed there. The interior is fantastic and it has a really nice layout. It wasn't too busy when I got there which gave me full range of seating, comfortable enough to sit for a while and work but not over cosy so that I'd get sleepy (happens a lot to me). The barista on top was absolutely top drawer and for both my drinks I went on his recommendations. First off was the AeroPress coffee so so smooth and easy to drink, but boy was it strong! Next up he recommended flipping the script and opting for an espresso and piccolo (my favourite) but with the same coffee bean as the AeroPress one to taste the different end of the spectrum as you can tell this guy was bloody good at what he does! All in all a simply brilliant morning spent in my new favourite coffee spot!
One for the coffee connoisseur! these guys really care about the beans they are serving so much so that you might have to be patient for your coffee to arrive! Set inside an old mill and office building, the decor is as you 'd expect for that style. I thought it was quite dark, we came here to work but I think this is more a coffee shop to go to if you want to sit back and relax with a good book. The reason I say this is there 's a severe lack of plugs. My laptop ran out of juice and I hunted round for a power point to no avail. The seating wasn 't the most comfortable either. I suppose this place is trying and succeeding to be really great at coffee, so the seating arrangements and working environment are secondary. Sure, you can 't win 'em all. The smell of roasting coffee beans is incredible I like the rustic vibe of the place. Behind where we were sitting they were busy pouring beans from sacks it felt like we were at the heart of it. In summary If you 're a coffee fan make sure you pay this place a visit. If you want a practical place to sit down for a few hours and work then head somewhere else!
