Great staff. I really enjoy their roast beef and pastrami. During the colder months, be sure to try their smoked cheeses. The horseradish cheddar is fantastic, and the smoked hot pepper cheese is also a treat.
This is a fantastic spot to enjoy some delicious smoked meats. I typically order the double smoked bacon and the Cincinnati brat, both of which are outstanding. The deli has a Hungarian style, and the food is excellent!
We visited Thurns as part of a meat lovers tour, and it turned out to be my favorite stop among the four we visited! We got a behind-the-scenes tour where we saw how sausages are made and even checked out the smoker. The owner gets up twice a night to tend to it—it's truly a labor of love. We had the chance to sample a variety of their meats. They're known for their ham salad, which is fantastic, but I also tried dishes I never thought I would enjoy, like beef tongue and blood head cheese, and both were surprisingly delicious! I will definitely be returning!
Please note that they are only open three days a week with limited hours: currently, they operate on Thursdays and Fridays from 8 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 7 AM to 1 PM. Also, be aware that they only accept cash, although there is an ATM available on-site. Thurns is a genuine treasure of Columbus, well worth the trip to the Southside to enjoy their amazing products from this long-standing family business.
This restaurant is incredibly reliable and truly a gem of the neighborhood. It’s a classic!
