We had a small group for an early New Years Eve dinner. The server was very helpful and informative. The food was excellent. The meatball appetizer was a meal unto itself. The deserts were tasty although I was disappointed that they did not have cannoli. All in all a great evening for the group. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sono Wood Fired Columbus:
Accepted reservation. When got there it was closed. Could not cancel reservation on Open Table without calling a number that wasn't answered, so we couldn't book another reservation that night. Very disappointing. View all feedback.
Food was great, but reason for my review is to commend the manager/owner on duty Friday 12/15/2023. He took time to swing by our table twice to help clear plates. He made friendly small talk and sincerely thanked us for joining him on both occasions. This is exactly what a good manager ought to be doing. Bravo. Other establishments would be wise to follow this kind gentleman’s example. Our server Gary also deserves praise. Friendly, attentive and proficient.
For the price point, I expected a lot more. I had a 10 inch pizza with spinach and spicy Italian sausage. The cheese and spinach were plentiful but only approx 8 pieces of sausage. The 12 ounce draft beer I had (614 larger) was 8 dollars. My wife had the mushroom pizza and was very good. However, for 20+ dollars, I find pizza from local pizza shop with the equal or better quality for half the price. Your paying for antmosphere you ask? I would expect a more formal atmosphere when a ribeye steak (which they were out of) cost 55$ and no sides. The salad to accompany the steak at least an extra 10 to 14 dollars. Want a potato. Nope. You get fried red potatoes for another 10. Service? The service is what I would expect from a red lobster or Applebee's. Decent but not satisfactory for the price point. I was in a party of 6. Everybodys food came out except mine. I had to wait an extra 10 minutes while everyone else ate. No manger apologies, no offering of anything to make it right. The check for the evening was given to me (300+ dollars). Never asked if the checks should be split and seemed somewhat irritated when asked to do so. Summary: the food is good, service adequate, atmosphere nice. However, charging Eddie marlot prices, I would expect a higher level..
