What Martin Gress doesn't like about La Parrilla Boricua:
The steak smelled rotten and felt like rubber. Ribs didn?t even look like ribs. Plain, very dry and tasted like there was no seasoning. Paid $30 for food I wouldn?t eat. My fault I guess I went home before checking what I was getting. View all feedback.
I would like to encourage y?all to check out a new, family owned restaurant that opened in July (2019 , just in time to get caught in all of the road construction that has walled off local businesses from getting turn-in customers from US 41. La Parilla Boricua Puerto Rican Grill is located in the building that formerly housed Tito ?n? Me at 3664 Cleveland Ave. (US 41 , between Hill and Grove and across from the McDonalds on US 41. It has limited seating, much of it outdoors, so it is more of a take-out place. They serve hearty island foods such as rice and beans with various meats, sandwiches, empanada-like turnovers, rotisserie chicken, but the specialty is Mofongos, which is a traditional Puerto Rican dish of mashed plantains with fried meats. (Mofongo is kind of like mashed potatoes except made from green plantain bananas. The food is tasty, with generous servings, and very reasonably priced. (A whole rotisserie chicken with fried plantains is $10.99. The place serves a variety of soft drinks found in the islands as well as beer and sangria. They have fruit juice in a bubbling cooler, which I had the passion fruit juice, and it was excellent. We have tried the Mofongo with Pork, the Rotisserie Chicken Plate where you get to choose your sides, and the breakfast Ham, Cheese Egg sandwich (breakfast includes free Puerto Rican coffee . All were good, and my favorite was the mofongo. I haven?t tried the deserts yet because I?ve always been stuffed from the main dishes. I didn?t get a chance to ask specifics about preparation of the dishes that looked vegetarian-friendly and gluten-intolerant friendly, but I can tell you that they have two kinds of rice and two kinds of beans to choose from, and you can get an order of mofongo just by itself with no meats, and they have things like salad and potato salad and fried sweet plantains. You will have to inquire to find out if they use any animal products or wheat products in the preparation of these dishes that app
??ALERT AMAZING FOOD?? The food was exceptional, the staff was very polite. Anytime I?m around the city I?m definitely stopping here. This is straight up grandma?s cooking. Pictured below is carne frita con Mofongo. Delicious!
