This is a wonderful, little Inverness restaurant, that's casual, friendly and cooks great traditional American Greek foods, with that real taste of home.. I had the Spanakopita. This is a Greek savory spinach pie, that contains cheese, typically feta. This pie was delicious. From the delicate filo pastry, to the flavorsome filling, it's a must try dish, and if you love Olives. This is the place to go. They are so goo... View all feedback.
What Hotdog22958 B doesn't like about Tourista Family:
The owner is a J It's going around facebook to boycott this creep. He charges you $20 for breakfast , when it only cost half that, then if you don't pay he calls the cops. I heard the food isn't worth going there for. If you go there, for some reason get a receipt. There's alot of good owners out there and restaurants to chose from. View all feedback.
Owner is completely rude and food is terrible. Will not be going back
I heard about it on facebook message on the internet. It seems the owner, from what I understand, Called the cops on a regular customer that's a decorated , disabled Veteran because he wouldn't accept his credit card. He blocked the veterans car so he couldn't leave. The veteran had to go to store and pay him with cash. The veteran said he received bad food on a previous visit and told the waitress, the owner told the man he would take care of it, he didn't have to pay. The waitress heard all this. So no check was given to the Vet, so he left. But that's not the worst of it. The owner asked the man to pay $40 on the return visit, instead of $20 for the two meals. This is pure garbage! OK? I never heard of anyone pulling this , especially on one of our veterans. I see someone else saw this on the net. This is disgusting!

Avoid this restaurant. The new owner blocked a man's car and called police , claiming he didn't pay his check the last time he was in there. Then the owner asked for double what was owed $40 for two breakfast's? This is how you treat customers? The man had been a regular customer for 15 yrs! He said he will never go back again.
Highlands has changed ownership and is now called Tourista Family Restaurant. They are open as of December 2021 and retained the menu. They plan on expanding the menu in the near future. For now, the service is good and the food is tasty. I like the spinach pie (spanakopita). They may import it from Tarpon Springs; the phyllo was not crispy. Comes with a generous Greek salad. Overall, a fair meal. I expect they will make improvements over time.
