While the food was satisfactory, I was in Inverell for an event and was far more interested in the company I was with than an elaborate dining experience. On a positive note, the 2006 Shiraz was excellent! With over twenty years of experience running a successful catering business, I firmly believe that hospitality and dining out should not revolve around the ego of the maître d'. His behavior is not beneficial for his trainees. When we left, I quietly suggested that he adopt a less judgmental approach, mentioning that he had made a few guests feel uncomfortable with his criticisms of their preferences. He did offer an apology, but when I wasn't interested in hearing his justification for his behavior, he asked me to leave—quite rudely, I might add. I’m not from the area, but I doubt I will return anytime soon.
