Full of local characters all of whom w... read more My wife and I stayed in the village for a week and a half, we went in all the pubs and this was by far and away the best. Full of local characters all of whom were charming coupled with a few tourists like ourselves. We, and our three dogs, were welcomed and the two pub dogs were great. Alan the landlord is a gem of a bloke who can’t do enough for you and goes out of his way to enhance your stay. Excellent music nights also are put on. Special mention to Mia who is a font of knowledge regarding local history and took us on a fantastic guided tour of the village. We will definitely be back!!

However, upon discovering it was open during our last few days in Inistoige, we visited twice. The staff and owner were friendly, and the Guinness was excellent. The atmosphere reminded us of an old school pub from the 80s, making it a great spot for locals to enjoy a drink. We were pleasantly surprised to find live music on a Saturday night during our second visit. Although we were unsure if they served food, the clean bathrooms and reasonable prices made for a great experience. We will definitely be returning on our next trip.

Luckily, we were able to try their delicious pop-up burger option featuring lamb and beef on a Saturday. We stayed in the village for over three weeks, which really added to our experience. The standout feature of this pub is the friendly staff, especially Alan and Katryn, who made us feel very welcome. We had a great time getting to know the local patrons, making new friends, and having interesting conversations over some delicious Guinness. On St. Patrick's Day, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that some of our new friends were musically talented, and we enjoyed an evening filled with music. I specifically chose to stay in a small village for the cozy pub atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with locals, and The Otter exceeded our expectations. This place will always have a special place in our hearts for the wonderful people we met, the welcoming atmosphere, and the memorable conversations.
