Sushi Yuen shines with its exquisite omakase experience, offering creative and beautifully presented dishes crafted from the freshest ingredients flown in from Japan. The engaging staff and attention to detail enhance the overall dining ambiance, although the interior remains simple. While most attendees rave about the flavorful selections, a few critique the overpowering wasabi and occasional freshness issues. With a strong reputation built on its artistic presentations and exceptional service, Sushi Yuen remains a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts in Southern California, though early arrival and reservations are advised for a seamless experience.

What Ruben Fernandez dislikes about Aji Sushi:
The service at this restaurant is good and the quality of the fish is good as well. However, the flavor of the dishes is lacking, and I think they need to marinate the fish. Some people may go solely to taste the flavor of the fish. Additionally, many dishes come with wasabi on the sushi, but the wasabi can be too overpowering and can detract from the enjoyment of the fish. I would suggest asking for the wasabi on th... I had the best meal of my life at this restaurant. It is my all-time favorite and the best omakase I have ever had. I have been to many omakase places, but this one surpasses them all. The menu changes with each season and the head chef travels to Japan four times a year for inspiration and sourcing. All the ingredients are imported from Japan and everything is made in-house from scratch. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this place is. Additionally, the portions are surprisingly generous.
This restaurant is fantastic! It is one of the best meals we have ever had. The flavors are comparable to Michelin restaurants we have visited in Japan. The dishes, including Uni, Crab, and caviar, are delicious. The nigiri is superb, thanks to the special preparation of the fresh fish. We particularly enjoyed the wagyu steak plate as the finishing course. They also have a small but excellent selection of sake. We were so impressed with our dining experience that we drove over an hour to go back a couple of weeks later, and it was definitely worth it. Chef Ryan and his team are talented and hospitable, even remembering some of our dietary preferences from our previous visit. We can't wait to return!
I am convinced that this may be one of the best sushi restaurants in Southern California. The omakase was amazing and once you dine here, it's hard to enjoy sushi anywhere else. My husband and I visited for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance is sleek and sophisticated with a minimalist design. The staff was friendly and ensured we were fully satisfied. I am looking forward to returning for dinner.
Sushi Yuen is a fantastic find. The restaurant features a large sushi bar that can accommodate around 14 guests, requiring excellent teamwork to serve everyone simultaneously - a task that Sushi Yuen accomplishes flawlessly. The omakase experience is truly impressive, with Chef Ryan and his team showcasing creative preparations reminiscent of those found at a high-end chef's table. Each dish is beautifully presented in elegant tableware, with drinks served in traditional glassware in a timely manner. A standout dish is the smoked wagyu, which is both delicious and extraordinary. The seaweed wraps are a particular highlight, offering a luscious blend of Japanese Uni and Toro that ranks among the best experiences I have had. As most courses in the omakase feature seafood, it is recommended to bring or order sake and white wine to elevate the dining experience.
