The service was excellent. We ordered fried calamari, a large antipasto salad, chicken Marsala, and minestrone soup. The chicken was tender, and the Marsala sauce was full of flavor. The homemade tomato sauce and minestrone soup were both very good. We ended our meal with a delicious homemade cannoli. While traveling for work, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this family-owned restaurant, which has been run by the same family for four generations.
We ordered soft drinks, a Caprese appetizer, and our main courses. My pasta came with a Caesar salad, but I didn't request it and we weren't offered any oil or seasoning for the bread. On our way out, I noticed that several nearby tables had oil, and I couldn't help but feel a bit envious! When my Caesar salad arrived, I was surprised to find tomatoes in it. The lettuce was also quite hard, as the center stalks rather than the leaves were used. I only managed to eat a few bites. The Caprese appetizer, however, was fantastic with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. When my seafood pasta arrived, I noticed the scallops were the smallest I had ever seen (the menu did say "baby scallops"), along with two shrimp and about eight mussels. The dish was delicious, featuring a creamy sauce, but there was something slightly off about it. My wife ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and was pleased with her meal. Neither of us could finish our pasta, and we decided against taking the leftovers home. Overall, it was a decent dining experience with average Italian dishes. It has the potential to be better, but if I lived nearby, I would consider returning. However, it’s not a place I would feel compelled to visit again while in Indianapolis.
I visited this restaurant for the first time during Devour Indy, and it truly feels authentic—a charming mom-and-pop spot that embodies its roots. The food transported me to a cozy little eatery in Italy. The mozzarella bites were incredibly fresh, and the cheese was simply delightful. The risotto bite paired with the pesto ranch was an unexpected but fantastic combination—a must-try dish! Sampling three different pasta entrees was a treat; the gnocchi had a fresh, delicious flavor. The dessert was slightly dry, but the ice cream complemented it well. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back!
The atmosphere has a vintage, proud Hoosier feel, and it exudes charming family history. However, the first thing we noticed was how cold it was inside; the air conditioning was set so high that my hands started to cramp, so I recommend bringing a sweater. We all tried different dishes from the menu as well as the special of the day, mushroom ravioli. The house salad dressing was outstanding—a fantastic example of homemade goodness. Our meals arrived quickly and looked fantastic. While we enjoyed the meal and found the portion sizes just right, the food itself wasn’t particularly memorable. For dessert, we shared tiramisu and cannoli, both of which were delightful and made for a nice ending to the evening. While I’m not sure we would return for dinner, I could see myself stopping by for an espresso and a sweet treat.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious, even on a busy Saturday night. Our party of four unanimously agreed that we would love to come back!
