The cashier didn't suggest I combo my side with a drink to save some money charging me full price.Rita had a crab cake appetizer which was the smallest entree ever for$11.99.The side of red beans rice was maybe three bites at best very disappointing!. I was still hungry after my lunch so I had to order another side of Waffle fries to sustain my hunger. I had a blackened catfish sandwich which was very good so I can say nothing negative there.I spent over $40 for this sub par dining experience! Don't know that I will be back after in excess of over 50 visits during Covid era. The sides have shrunk and for $40 plus experience I was disappointed in this experience completely!

We have visited this restaurant numerous times and introduced many out-of-town friends to their delicious food. Up until this visit, all of our friends have bee... read more We have visited this restaurant numerous times and introduced many out-of-town friends to their delicious food. Up until this visit, all of our friends have been very pleased. However, my friend from Minnesota ordered a broiled walleye sandwich with Old Bay seasoning, and it was so heavily seasoned that he couldn't take a second bite. When he brought the sandwich to the cashier to request a replacement or some sort of compensation, he was met with refusal. The cashier seemed more focused on his phone than on the situation in the restaurant. I tried to get his attention multiple times, but if he noticed me, he ignored my attempts. Eventually, I approached him to discuss his poor customer service. To make a long story short, my friend's sandwich was refunded, and we went back to our house where we could get him something to eat. This was our first bad experience here; otherwise, we've always enjoyed our visits.

While the appearance of the clam strip was appealing, I asked three different people to try it, and everyone found it to be tough—so tough that it was nearly impossible to chew. It took around 2 to 3 minutes just to chew one piece. I definitely do not recommend this dish at this restaurant! The other food is excellent, but the 1/4 pound of fried clams cost over $12, and I ended up having to throw it away.

I would have paid for it because it was that good. They were out of my oysters so I settled for shrimp and I'm glad I did. They give you a hefty portion. I was not a fan of their cajun potatoes. I rather have fries. But because the soup was so good I did not miss the potatoes. And those hush puppies will make you slap your own self. Thank you Caplingers! I will be back next year. Please have my oysters when I return.

I was perusing the fish counter looking at everything they had while they were slow and ended up talking with an extremely helpful older gentleman who not only told me everything they had but made reccomendations on what and how to order and what they could do to prepare my food. He also walked me through the counter and the frozen section showing me his favorite things to get and how he cooks them and then made recommendations on what to get. I ordered the seafood Philly, the collared greens, cornbread and red beans and rice as well as fried clams and some grilled scallops. Everything was well made and delicious even after the drive home. I even got talked into buying the smoked tuna salad and some Cajun crab dip and it’s amazing as well. The only negative thing I have to say is that my collared greens ended up not being in my order but that’s ok because mistakes happen and everything else was so well prepared it didn’t end up mattering to me. If you’re up for some good seafood at a fair price then Caplingers is the perfect place for your next meal. If you like to cook yourself then check out their fresh seafood market as well. Good prices, extremely friendly, knowledgeable and passionate staff and a good value for your money. Expect to spend more than you originally planned because you won’t wanna leave empty handed.
