The food was fantastic, especially the TJ Hot Dog, which was spot on. However, the restaurant could benefit from additional tables or a larger dining space. The service was decent; the server who delivered our food was friendly. The total came to $36 for two TJ hot dogs, a side of fries, and two Coronas, which I found to be quite pricey. While it was a pleasant experience, it's not something I can do regularly due to... View all feedback.
What Melba Altenwerth doesn't like about Doggos Gus:
I wasn't very impressed with my experience. I ordered the TJ-Jumbo dog with fries. It was okay, but not particularly flavorful—just decent enough to eat without complaint. The hot dogs at Mission Beach are way better! The service was average; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I don’t think I'll be returning. View all feedback.
I wasn't impressed. I ordered the TJ-Jimbo-dog with fries, and while it was decent, it didn’t have much flavor; just enough to be passable. The hotdogs at Mission Beach are far superior! The service was affordable, but it was neither great nor poor. I don't think I'll be returning.
I have a deep appreciation for both traditional and creative hotdogs. D.G. takes the classic “Mexican” bacon-wrapped hotdog and elevates it with beloved Mexican ingredients like carne asada and carnitas, all topped with a unique blend of sauces on a pretzel-like bun. They achieve the perfect balance of toppings, ensuring that the hotdog’s flavor shines through—unlike another Mexican hotdog stand I’ve tried here in San Diego. This cozy little spot has a wonderfully friendly staff, and I highly recommend it to any hotdog enthusiast!
Not really a fan of hotdogs unless they are like this. Bread was soft, hot dogs were flavorful and juicy and the toppings took me back to a certain time in Mexico I had. All I can say is damn they were good.
Good spot here in IB just a 2 minute walk from the beach. This is the Shrimpy Fries. They also have burgers and yummy bacon wrapped hotdogs. They have the bar outside and the gentleman that's run it is very talkative and friendly
Eating was amazing. the TJ-Hot dog was on the spot. they could use more tables and/or a larger escap. the service at the switch was best moderate. the girl that brought the food was kind. $36 for 2 tj hotdogs, a frit and 2 coronas, so yes, the prices are very inflated. it was a nice memory, but not someone I can afford often.
