They offer a se... read more One of my favourite restaurants to visit, Val Prino is a beautifully authentic, family owned restaurant in a charismatic little Italian village. They offer a set menu of around a dozen courses that change regularly over the months, so that every time I go they seem to keep it fresh. They keep a few core undroppable courses like thinly sliced carpaccio with a sharp pesto sauce or their signature dough balls (both to die for), often serving traditional Ligurian meats like incredibly tender slow roasted rabbit later on. Pasta is always freshly made and the ingredients are all sourced locally. The wine is fantastic, also locally sourced and is included in the price of the meal which turns it into a relatively reasonable priced evening. The staff are very friendly and accomodating, we have asked for vegetarian and dairy free meals in the past (in advance) and they were happy to do it, the quality of the food wasn't diminished either. I cannot recommend a trip more highly.

It is a set menu, so make sure you tell them about special requirements in advance. The wine (and coffee and limoncello, if you want to go crazy) are included in the very reasonable price and are also local and delicious. It is family owned and run the service is excellent. All of these great things are nothing compared to the little fried olive dough balls you get (also included) as an accompaniment. Honestly, just go for them alone. A must visit if you are in Liguria!

There is no menu, in true traditional Ligurian style, everybody eats the same delicious dishes. The staff are true professionals, they are warm, welcoming and provide an excellent service. In the summer it is lovely to eat outside in the heart of this small village.
