Friendly Romantic and Delicious. Good selection of local (Kaiserstuhl) wines. Well prepared fresh local vegetables, meats, fish, cheese, fruits and breads. We enjoyed expert service from the staff In classic style. Exceptional were the asparagus cream soup, frog's legs and Muenster Cheese plate.
We came here to have dinner with long-time Freiburg friends, including with a 5.5-year old (good traveler). This is apparently a "favorite spot" for our friends. The food was outstanding, as was the service, and they treated the "youngster" very well indeed. We had a fine local white wine -- appropriae for the KaiserStuhl.
We went to this restaurant in Ihringen based on a recommendation from the Stigler winery. We sat out in the garden terrace which while right across the street from the train station was not particularly noisy. The wait staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The owner/chef came out to greet all the guests. One of my friends ordered the scallop/jumbo shrimp with chantrelle risotto and champagne foam. This was very well done and presented--well cooked, salted and the shrimp tails removed. Another friend had the veal steak cooked medium which was very tender. My wife had the vegetarian noodles with chantrelle mushrooms--very nice. I had the snail soup and the foie gras appetiser as my main course. The snail cream soup was presented with colourful petals of local summer flowers sprinkled over them--very pretty. The taste was, well, yummy. The foie gras teriine was served with a traminer jelly that was very nice. The waitress was nice enough to serve us tap water without a hassle (try getting that easily in Germany) and only a couple of Cokes. The bill was about 100 euros which is a good deal for the quality of food served and the service. Oh, yes, our two dogs were also given treats by the waitress. All in all, a wonderful experience and highly recommended,
Very good food freshly made. Very tasteful and nicely served. Fiendly servide. A relatively large menu for children.and a good selection of local and regional wines but not o many wines from other areas.
