The restaurant is in a tiny village very near to the A3 autobahn but gives the impression of being off the beaten track, especially if you come from the other direction. There is a handy car park. The menu is simple but the food is good and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient. All in all, pleasant atmosphere in rustic surroundings. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hotel Restaurant Kern:
Very nice, very charming from the outside. The room was just sour but unfortunately I had a room under the roof and there is neither a climate nor a refrigerator. Breakfast is inexpensive, but also very clear. And you already have to know what exactly and how much you want to eat and drink. I can't rate the restaurant, it had closed during our stay. Unfortunately there is no reception or so, much runs by phone. I did... View all feedback.

Hotel Kern is situated close to the highway and therefor an excellent place for a stay over during traveling from the North to the South. However, I would recommend Kern also as a place to stay longer then one night. This place offers the opportunity to visit beautiful Idstein and many other places. But even more important is the great hospitality of the family, already 125 years bringing excellent service, and the absolute great food, from the German kitchen to specialities, based on many influences. Try the 'Endenbrust', a 'normal' veal schnitzel or the Marenen Knödel - all delicatessen that can be combined with their great wine or home made 'schnapps'. A great place to be!
Family owned restaurant with friendly service and a menu with a large selection of traditional German food. My favorite is their Jäger Schnitzel: they use fresh mushrooms for the sauce, the small salad that goes with it is fresh and has a great dressing, the french fries are irresistible. In addition, they offer varying seasonal dishes and specialties: their “Hessen Schnitzel” (filled with Handkäse) is a matter of taste but seems to have a fan base. They have a shady “beer garden” in Summer and a cozy fire place in Winter. They make their own “apple wine” (which I am not a fan of) but in addition they distill their own, excellent Calvados which also makes a nice gift.
Ideally located just off the autobahn (about a mile so no noise). Clean comfortable rooms. Good food with great service. English spoken. Good countryside walk to stretch your legs after a long journey.
Nice and good value for money. here I want to bring my guests.
