one of the great masters in hard production is still practicing there. it is a living museum and apprentices practice in the rule on certain days. the museum has a boutique where you can find unique handmade kitchen knives. Osafune visit can be combined with a trip to bizen, the capital of ceramic production, both stands and both crafts depending on the same ingredient: unique quality of mud and crystal clear water. Nice place to see craftsmen working in the sword arts and how it is done!! I do not recommend going near lunch time, as all of the craftsmen take lunch about the same time.

Great place to visit and learn about Japanese sound production. a 120mm sushi knife. Top quality blade and it is sharp razor blade. they are located just outside the beaten path, but it is worth going the time, especially when they visit the day of live demonstrations.
Wow finally found a Katana museum of holly land called Osafune . Just amazing, alhamdulilla yallap
A really nice Japanese sword museum. Excellent displays with some English information more English about the history, production, etc would be welcome. Admission is only ¥300, which is extremely reasonable for this quality. Try to go on one of the monthly demonstration days and watch the craftsmen make actual swords. Parking is free. Access by public transportation is difficult (from JR Oku Sta, take a taxi).
