We had the Cobb wrap and BBQ pork sandwich. Both were delicious and came with chips and a pickle. Located next to the FDR visitors' center. Reasonably priced too!
Definitely the weakest part of an otherwise very enjoyable visit to the FDR Library and Museum. The gift shop was nothing special, but the staff seemed professional. At the canteen, the group behind the counter seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than serving the public; really disappointing given the nature of the facility. They could have engaged with the customer and acted like they cared. And the food was only mediocre: $9 for a “gourmet grilled cheese†that includes pickle spear and a bag of chips, $2 for an iced tea. With a name like “Uncle Sam’s Canteen†and located in the FDR Library and Museum, they could have background music, decor, and even staff uniforms that build on nostalgia. But this was only ordinary.
On the grounds of the FDR homestead and Presidential Library, this is a simple quick serve cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Nominally priced, it has wraps, sandwiches and salads plus drinks. They work fast, but on a very crowded day, you may want to watch for the slower times to go in.
