Gumbo Stop Cafe - Huntington

My lady friend had read some comments about this café, so we decided to make a special trip to try the food. Steve, the owner, welcomed us warmly. After reviewing the menu, I ordered the shrimp Po-Boy, while my friend had a half shrimp Po-Boy and a cup of gumbo. I’ve visited New Orleans several times, and I can confidently say that the food here is just as good as what you’d find there. I even took a cup of gumbo home with me—absolutely delicious!

Today, for the first time based on a Facebook recommendation, my female friend and I met Steve and had a detailed conversation about his cuisine and sourcing of ingredients. She tried half of a shrimp Po-Boy and a bowl of gumbo, while I opted for a whole Po-Boy sandwich. In the end, she let me taste her gumbo, which was a treat since they don’t share portions easily! After just one spoonful, I decided to order a dish of the delicious gumbo to take home. I've eaten in New Orleans frequently during family visits, and Steve’s menu is just as good as anything I've had there!

My bowl looks like I should have taken a photo of my sandwich, but it’s already gone! The gumbo is excellent! Definitely try the New Orleans muffuletta sandwich, but be prepared if you’re not a fan of olives!

Sweet little place with really good food! I'm not a Cajun food expert in any case, but I loved the gumbo and beef-po boys. only wish they had more space and seats. plan to go back and share this little jewel with my family.

Stopped here on my girlfriend's request. I'm admittedly not a big of Creole food. She ordered Gumbo and Jumbalaya, it wasn't bad. I ordered a sausage appetizer that tasted good, but the plating was not good as it stuck to the bowl lining paper and the plastic knives did not hardly through the sausage casing.
