Was Jackson Hunt at Axe And Compass a mag?
I have visited this place multiple times recently. It is a fantastic pub with a spacious beer garden, restaurant, and bar. The food is top-notch and the staff is wonderful. It's a perfect spot to grab lunch or dinner, especially if you're out for a walk or bike ride. The beer garden even has cycle stands where you can securely lock up your bike. View all feedback.
What Fiona Hawke dislikes about Axe And Compass:
This is the reason why people just buy meals from M&S Food rather than bother eating out. Had lunch here today and to be honest it was rubbish. Ordered tuna nicoise salad and waited over 30 mins... it was tinned tuna (not the worst offence) but a salad with no dressing....come on guys, that is not ok for a Tuna nicoise. It's not difficult to serve with a salad dressing?! Would have cost about £2 max to make, no cooki... View all feedback.

I like coming here for a pint on my way through the village. The beer is always cold and service is quick. Friendly staff and rather a nice pub to sit inside or outside of while enjoying the drink purchased. Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
Attended a wake after well attended funeral service in the nearby church. Very well catered for all round. Price per person: £1–10 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Chocolate Cake, Egg and Mayo Sandwich Parking options: Free of charge parking lot, Free of charge street parking
We went a table of 6. Ordered food it took ages. There was lots of empty glasses on the table assuming for wine. But we had soft drinks so the empties where not needed. Food eventually came out, but barely any space to put it down. After eating, the table was full so we piled all the empty glasses plus plates and asked for them to be removed to make space for pudding. The plates and only half the glasses got removed.. the food was OK, the kids said theirs was great. There is also a 10% service charge added, to which I asked to remove as the service just wasn't there other than piling food on an already pretty full table of empty glasses. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Superb! We enjoyed yet another wonderful Sunday lunch and had to write about it as a sign of thanks and appreciation. It really was fabulous. The meat (we both had lamb) was cooked perfectly – as was the wonderful array of vegetables. Just the right mix of vegetables and each cooked, well, perfectly! The gravy topped it all off as did the service, which was speedy, professional and extremely friendly from the entire team. It’s a gem and we can’t wait to experience again. Thank you ‘team Axe’! Nestled in a quaint village, this restaurant offers a diverse experience with varying opinions on its food and service. While some patrons praise the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere, others express frustration over slow service and below-par meal quality. Signature dishes like the beer-battered onion rings and burgers garner positive mentions, but concerns arise regarding the execution of roasts and other mains. Despite these inconsistencies, the venue remains a popular choice for casual dining and social gatherings, boasting pleasant outdoor seating and a welcoming environment. It’s advisable to manage expectations, particularly during busy hours.

Went on steak night, but chose other dishes. Quality reasonable, prices affordable, service good. Very pretty village and real country environment.
I stopped by for a pint and a quick meal while on a circular walk from St Ives. The staff was friendly, and the beer was fantastic, especially since they were hosting a mini beer festival over the Jubilee weekend. The lunch was excellent, and we had plenty of condiments on the table.
Good beer and staff always friendly and on-point Not eaten there yet so cannot contribute on this. Large garden area and seating outside to front and rear in a lively village setting
