This was an unplanned stop for two hungry travelers. Happy to have stumbled upon this place. A friendly, relaxed hostess greeted us at the door advised we could sit where we wanted. Food tastes very good but every time I order food to go/delivery, something isn't right with my order. Tonight I didn't get barbecue sauce with my pulled pork sandwich. Last week they didn't send the right meal with my doordash deliverer. Kind of a bummer because I do like the food : View all feedback.
The food is delicious, but I've had some issues with my takeout and delivery orders. For instance, tonight they forgot to include barbecue sauce with my pulled pork sandwich. Last week, my DoorDash delivery also had the wrong meal. It's disappointing because I really enjoy the food.
I dined inside the restaurant twice, and the fried flounder was enjoyable. However, I ordered takeout tonight and had a disappointing experience. The woman on the phone was not very friendly, and the flounder I received was only half the usual portion, yet I was charged the full price. The Spinach Maria side, which is cream-based, was served at room temperature and was inedible. The flounder and fries were soggy. I won't be returning.
Last night, my son ordered a burger, and my husband chose the flounder special with fries for $13.99. My husband often orders this flounder special when we dine in, and he has always enjoyed generous portions and quality that justified the price. However, when I got home, I found that instead of fries, my husband received a baked potato, and his portion of flounder was half the usual size—more reminiscent of a Long John Silver’s meal than what he expects from Ron’s. This was definitely not worth the $13.99. I called to speak with the manager, Tom, and explained the issue. Unfortunately, I received no apology, only a rather defensive attitude. He suggested I return the meal for a refund. When I mentioned that this experience might lead to a negative review, he accused me of threatening him. So, I returned to the restaurant. Tom didn’t check the bag or look at me directly; he merely started instructing a waitress on how to process the refund. Even after the refund was completed, there was still no apology from him for my inconvenience. Interestingly, Tom ended up issuing a full refund for both meals instead of just the flounder. When I left for my car, he ran after me, shouting that I had only returned one meal. I turned around and went back in to pay for the burger. I stood there waiting while the waitress took another customer’s order for about five minutes. Once she was finished, she informed Tom that she needed to charge me for the burger again. He told her to just let it go and give it to me. Once again, I reminded Tom that I would be leaving an appropriate review, and then I took my leave. It’s unfortunate because Ron’s used to be one of our favorite spots, but due to the new management's poor customer service and smaller portions, we will no longer be returning to Ron’s BBQ on SR 52 in Hudson.
Great barbecue at fantastic prices. The menu is somewhat limited, but it’s just the right length for what they offer. They specialize in BBQ. Be mindful of their unusual hours—check carefully. It can get very busy, especially during the early dinner rush, and you’ll see plenty of locals dining here.
I decided to try the grilled fish, which was absolutely phenomenal! It was served in a sizzling cast iron skillet and was incredibly hot. The spinach Maria was a delicious side dish that complemented the fish perfectly. My dining companion opted for the meat dishes, and he raved about the flavorful ribs, which were hearty and meaty. He also ordered brisket that he enjoyed, but I was too full to sample it myself. Since I'm not too far away in Tampa, I will definitely make a return visit if I'm in the area again. I just wish I had taken a picture of that amazing fish!
