The place was full of thick smoke as we entered the door 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. The waiter welcomed us and opened the windows to let the oven smoken out.... read more The place was full of thick smoke as we entered the door 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. The waiter welcomed us and opened the windows to let the oven smoken out. There's something wrong with the oven's airflow they need to sort out but they really use wood to heat up the oven so props for that. We were the second customers but soon Pizza BB was packed with no free tables! Only a few Western tourists that evening besides us and it looked like the restaurant is popular with the locals. As we returned from Pisco climb I opted for a big pizza with some tomatoes, onions and salami while my better half had llomo steak with pasta. Both were quality food and we ended up with empty plates. We also shared the garlic bread and mixed salad starters nothing wrong with either portions. Before Pisco I had a pizza at ex El Horno which was slightly dissapointing but this pizza had everything right. House red wine was familiar from the Mountain basecamps: Clos de Chacra from cardboard container. It actually tasted better cold in the basecamps tent than served slightly warmer in the restaurant. Lots of customers, but the food kept on coming at a steady pace, tables were cleaned quickly and customers were served when they needed something. I'd say this was a good quality restaurant compared to several others in Huaraz. Next time we'll try their sashlik kebab things which someone in another tables seemed to have. Those looked pretty good as well. Recommended!
