We were staying at the motel next door. I looked for reviews for a place for an evening meal. There was little choice on a Tuesday night. The owner recommended chinese at the club. The restaurant there is no longer the Happy Lotus and I have no idea if the new incarnation is related but it is good. Had one chicken and one beef plate with rice and a glass of local white. Service efficient and food good. Table next to... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Golden Pavilion Restaurant:
Had the Chinese seafood smorgasbord , as it was all that is available on the Wednesday night we were there. Meal was average some bits good Seafood was only mussels prawns though there could of been more Staff were a little to...eager to clean up take your plate away. $22 for non members was a little rich for quality. We visit Howlong once a year for a long weekend and stay at the golf club. A tradition of ours is to dine at the Asian restaurant on Friday evening, which is usually good, tasty, and reliable. However, this time was different. We waited for 2.5 hours for our Mongolian beef and special fried rice, while others at our table waited even longer, as did other restaurant patrons. I felt sorry for the two overwhelmed waitstaff who had to deal with frustrated customers, many of whom ended up leaving. From a food perspective, the Mongolian beef was just okay, with overcooked vegetables and sparse meat. The special fried rice was the standout dish- simple, flavorful, and satisfying. I understand it was a busy night, but with our annual reservation, I expected better organization and staffing. It seemed they only had one cook for a large club membership, which was not sufficient. Next year, we will opt for pizza delivery instead. I was tempted to give a low rating due to the wait for our food, but the two employees were pleasant and apologetic.
We tried the buffet which offered a great selection of 4-5 meat dishes, including honey glazed ham, steak, and another chicken dish, along with shrimp. The highlight was the soft serve ice cream machine and three different cakes/pies that diners could help themselves to as much as they wanted. The children enjoyed chips, nuggets, and some Chinese food as well. The cost was $25 per adult and $12 per child.
Great meals they change each night all good value and friendly service excellent coffee and snacks at golf halfway
We dined at this restaurant on a hot evening. The main dining area was not air-conditioned, and there were flies buzzing around while we were trying to eat. The food was subpar, with only two hot dishes and eight choices for everyone. Most of the dishes were overcooked and lacked flavor. There were no labels on the meat dishes, and the vegetables were floating in leftover sauce. We were disappointed with the lack of food available, as the hostess seemed to be aware of the issue but only brought out more chips and bread rolls. The quality of the food did not justify the high price. Overall, we were very disappointed with the experience, especially during a triple birthday celebration. The atmosphere was also disrupted by a loud group nearby. It's a shame, as this restaurant used to be great.
Great service, thanks to jenny had a great meal, best bark and black bean had everywhere! and great kung pao and spicy koreanic huh
