Our first time here but not our first time at a soul food restaurant. The food for the most part was a five, and atmosphere was a solid five, but the lack of attention for the condiments and silverware were a solid one. What User doesn't like about The Greasy Spoon Soulfood Bistro:
Found this place just by searching Google for near by restaurants. I was very interested in trying the food in person but the establishment seems a bit small that 's okay. So Doordash it was...food was seasoned well the Mac-n-Cheese was so tasty!!!Fish was also on point, moist juicy. I plan on making an in person visit at some point. Got my eye on their Seafood Spaghetti The Boss Seafood Stack???? Until then just 4? View all feedback.

It's not soul food if the Mac n cheese ain't baked. I hate leaving bad reviews, hence that's why I gave 3 stars instead of 1. I like the idea of the restaurant, however the food was not good at all. I know I'm overly picky because I cook. This is also the reason why I can tell you if the food is good or not. I had the Cajun wings with greens and Mac and cheese. My meat was very hot but my sides were not even warm. 1. Cajun wings actually lacked flavor. As a cook I can tell they were not marinated. And you do not have to marinate chicken for it to be good. However if it's called Cajun chicken, I just expect flavor. This could just be my assumptions and normal people who do not cook will love it. All the seasoning was on the fry mixture. For example the actual chicken was not seasoned but the flour or cornmeal mix was seasoned. Out of 5 stars I'll give it a 2 because it was still fried to perfection it just lacked flavor. And it was piping hot when I got it. 2. Greens, smh they were crunchy. Meaning still dirty because they were not cleaned properly. #disappointed they also lacked flavor. 3. Mac and cheese. I'm not sure where they got this from. But it was not baked. It almost tasted like kraft box mixed with Velveeta. Cooking tip: season the cheese rue and if you not using mustard seasoning in the rue you making it wrong. We were approached and asked how everything was. I politely told them about the greens. They asked if I wanted Anything else and I agreed to the dirty rice. However I'm not gonna eat it. I immediately lost my appetite when the greens were crunchy. My mind was racing like how clean is the kitchen. Greens are very easy to clean you just keep rinsing until there is no more dirt at the bottom of the bowl. Did they clean the chicken? Now my stomach hurt because I done over thought the whole meal. I didn't finish anything. But I learned where to not go in Houston. My hubby had the cat fish black eyed peas and Mac and cheese. Since he worked hard to pay for our food he ate all of his. I liked the music playing.

I understand they have a food truck, BUT don't treat your brick and mortar restaurant as if it was a food truck. For the price we paid, having plastic utensils and restroom type hand towels was also the packet condiments did not compliment the fried fish or the over cooked shrimp (maybe use a different batter for shrimp). Overall, we enjoyed the food, but it's the little details that will keep us dining in.
