WOW! This was EXACTLY what we needed after a long day of hikes! Was really surprised at how good this was in this little town. Had a GREAT chicken fried steak and a wonderful slice of coconut cream pie. Topped it all off with a bunch of 4oz pours of craft beers on tap. Tried them all and they were all good. Service was super friendly. Music playing in the background was perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! View all feedback.
What Margot Geisler doesn't like about Woolly's Grill And Cellar:
The restaurant accommodated what felt like two large tour buses worth of people. There was a designated area for making sandwiches, but not much for vegetarians. The Swiss cheese had crusty edges, indicating it was past its freshness. Overall, the offerings lacked variety. The dessert bar featured unwrapped candy alongside lemon squares and cookies. On a positive note, a Negra Modelo was reasonably priced at just $4.... View all feedback.

I initially wanted to give them 4 stars, as the baby back ribs resembled spare ribs (though the server did give me a heads-up about that), and the chicken breast was overcooked. However, the fantastic sauce helped keep it from being too dry. Despite these issues, the food was quite good, and the sides bar was exceptional, so I’m giving them a rare 5 stars.
After a long day of driving from Rushmore to Wind Cave, we asked our hotel for a restaurant recommendation and ended up here. I highly recommend this place as a fantastic stop for tourists and families! Our group consisted of 6 kids and 4 adults, and it took them about 20 minutes to get us seated—absolutely reasonable given our large party. My kids loved the lemon water they provided, which was refreshing while we waited. We were particularly impressed by their salad and sides bar! The greens were fresh, the selection was abundant, and the side dishes were delicious.
The place is situated in a very beautiful setting and is a very busy dinner destination. It was worth the wait, however and my family and I loved it. I tried a beer flight and really enjoyed the Jeremiah mountain man ale over the others. The salad bar was excellent and the wings were very large. Overall a good value even though it will run you a lot more than a chain restaurant or fast food. Get there early!
This is easily the best restaurant in the Black Hills! From delicious food, to fantastic service, AND one of the cleanest restaurants I've seen. They're running the perfect business! The Western Burger was super delicious, and the Cheesecake.... So good!! Thanks for a great service, we can't wait to return on our next trip!
