O Varadouro - Horta

Great spot in Faial’s southwest coast of the island for simple but tasty food. We ordered the BBQ/grilled chicken which came with fries, garlic bread and salad. They have a great patio with a terrific view of the ocean. Unfortunately we had a rainy and windy day but they had plenty of indoor space.

Great view of the bay. Delicious good especially the shrimps appetizer. Soup was good and the tuna was delicious. Service is fast but we were the only couple. Close to the natural swimming pool which is really nice to spend the day.

Lovely view a few steps from some great natural swimming. Surprisingly uncrowded on a Friday evening. Grilled Rockfish plate was a little bland with potatoes over-boiled. Because service was a little slow we did not try desert. On the plus side, fair pricing and a tidy decor.

This place is at a great location with a great view. You can spend the day by the swimming area near the actual restaurant. Service is good but you have to adapt to the Portuguese ways, they take there time to prepare things. The good was delicious, I the the rock fish. Also the Sao Jorge cheese is really good along with the Pico wine, my favorite.

Friendly service, great fresh fish, big portions, nice views...
