I just left about an hour ago, and I was shocked by my experience. First of all, the floor was disgusting—sticky everywhere you step. The young woman who took my order seemed to be somewhere else entirely, clearly uninterested. After receiving my order, I approached the counter multiple times to ask for a spoon, saying "excuse me" 3 or 4 times, but she never returned. The cupcake I got was a letdown, and I couldn't even finish it; it tasted stale, like it had been sitting around for days. I'm extremely disappointed in this establishment. There are far better cake and treat shops in Birmingham that offer much better customer service. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Consider this your warning.

The young lady welcomed me with a warm "Hi, welcome to Cakeffect," and I could genuinely feel her sincerity. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who is the sweetest person. I chatted her ear off, haha. Since it was my first visit, I originally planned to buy just one cupcake to see how it was. Once I got to my car and began enjoying the cupcake, I realized it was so good that I quickly finished it and had to go back inside for more. So, yes, I went in for one but ended up leaving with half a dozen cupcakes and a pound of chicken salad! I will definitely be a regular at Cakeffect. Did I mention how much I love this place?

I tried the chicken salad, and it was amazing—absolutely delicious! The young lady who helped me was so patient and had a lovely smile and wonderful attitude. She even allowed me to sample their new punch, which was fantastic! CakEffect has definitely made it onto my must-visit list!
