Andrade’s Honokaa Cafe

A true home away from home. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in heritage and the spirit of ohana, knowing you're in for a special experience. The Andrade family has been part of Honokaa since 1924, and their pride and cherished family recipes are still present today. We tried the chicken pesto sandwich, served on a delightful sweet guava bread, and it was absolutely delicious, especially after we hiked Waipi'o Valley. We also had the Island Beef Stew, which felt like a comforting homemade dish. We couldn't have asked for better food or hospitality anywhere else. Thank you!

Simple and satisfying. Most dishes can be modified to be gluten-free. The warm meals include two rice balls, a salad with vinaigrette, and a portion of meat accompanied by a roll. Sandwiches are served on large slices of Hawaiian bread. The owners are extremely friendly. The restaurant is small, so we had to wait outside for about 20 minutes.

My husband and I decided to take a break in Honokaa during our sightseeing drive. We noticed that the cafe was open for another hour, so we figured we’d give it a shot—and I'm so glad we did! Marlene and Archie are true treasures. The food was outstanding. I ordered the beef stew, which was the epitome of comfort food. My husband chose the special: grandma’s Portuguese pork plate, and it was equally delicious. We also shared a bowl of bean soup, which was fantastic! What began as a quick stop for a snack turned into a wonderful meal where we met some wonderful people. Thank you, Marlene and Archie, for making us feel so welcome! From The Vet and The Sooner.
