Service was good, as they kept refilling my cabbage. This is still a very popular tonkatsu shop but i think the quality definitely can’t live up to what it used to be. The batter was a bit too thick especially on the scallops, i ended up only eating the scallops not the coating. The pork on the other hand was a bit dry and simply not as delicate and airy as before. The tonkatsu is consist... read more Tonkichi in IFC is one of my go-to spots for tonkatsu in Hong Kong. Be prepared for a long wait on weekends — it's popular for a reason. The tonkatsu is consistently well-cooked: crispy on the outside, juicy and tender inside. The provided sauces complement the dishes well, and the unlimited shredded cabbage salad is a nice bonus. My personal favorite is the scallops — plump, moist, and perfectly fried with a crisp coating. I’ve had it several times, and while there was one instance where the coating was oddly soggy despite eating it immediately, every other visit has been excellent. If you're willing to splurge, I highly recommend the kuruma prawns — they're absolutely worth it. I once tried the lunch set that includes sashimi. It was just okay, but to be fair, I wasn’t expecting much from sashimi at a tonkatsu restaurant. Service is attentive and efficient, even during peak hours. The seating area in the back tends to feel stuffy and warm, but I’ll deal with it when it’s busy just to enjoy the food. Price per person: $200–250 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
