What Pierre Sae Houer doesn't like about Wasabi:
The food was good but a little bit pricy to be honest. Otherwise we were efficiently served. We didn’t spend much time seated as all dishes arrived super fast. It left us short time to enjoy the amazing view on the glacier. The view we had was worth having dinner in this restaurant. View all feedback.
So let me begin that we did arrive at the end of the day (within last hour of closing) and we were seated and taken care of with great service. The food was awful. The black cod tasted like herring from a can. And the burger was cooked rare while it had a char thick enough on one side to be peeled off by finger in chunks and was so strong nothing else on the burger had any flavor but bitter burnt meat. Fries were perfect. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating and offered to have something else prepared. I refused as to not keep the back of the house any later on a Saturday and as a result, there was $10 taken off the check. I want to be clear front of the house was fantastic. The back of the house dropped the ball. This might have been a 1 off but felt warranted to mention it.
The staff, Brian and Dawn were wonderful. The curry Thai rockfish was very good as was the scallop mac and cheese. The potstickers were an interesting surprise with a little pesto! We hope to go back and try other dishes!
Visited Wasabi on a Thursday at about 5pm, they now require reservations so be sure to call already! Anyway, we were unaware of the new changes so we walked in but they were able to seat us which was amazing. They have spaced out all of the tables and have limited the capacity. All servers are wearing masks and I think I saw some with gloves. We came wanting sushi so we were happy to be able to eat inside. They also have a patio that has an amazing view of the mountains. Anyway, we ordered the Duck Pizza and the Alaska roll. We had our waters filled right away but the next time took a out 30 minutes even after we had drained our cups about 5 minutes after receiving it but it wasn't a deal breaker. But, the service was definitely slow. I could tell a lot of to-go or delivery orders were taking place but because my brother and I had nowhere else to be, it wasn't a big deal. Our pizza arrived after 30-40 minutes, piping hot and out of the oven. DO NOT SKIP THIS PIZZA. IT'S A WORK OF ART. This could easily fill one person, or two if you aren't that hungry. But this is hands down without a doubt the best pizza I've ever had. Read the menu for the full details but it has fig reduction, havarti and gryuere cheese, roasted garlic and onions, the duck bacon and more. If nothing else, just get it to take a picture with. Our sushi in total was probably an hour after we ordered but there was only one sushi chef working at the time and will all of the to-go orders including many many sushi rolls, he was extremely busy. Once the roll was done he even ran it over to our table. Sir, if you're reading this, your sushi is art and I am so glad to have tried it. Thank you for working so hard. Anyway, the roll was filled with crab and had salmon so fresh it was practically swimming. These rolls were a little bigger than what I'm used to, but still good! Absolutely visit this place (and go easy on the sushi chef when he's busy).
Should not be serving Sushi, i am honestly very disappointed, thought eating sushi in Alaska would be fresh and full of flavor, but could not even eat it, we paid for it even so we hardly touched it. The view is nice!
It started off so good and just plummeted after the appetizers. We ordered all the vegetarian-friendly rolls in consideration of our company but none of us could get over the pungency of the seaweed salad. No amount of water and tougue-scraping could rid us of the taste long enough to enjoy the items without the seaweed salad. On the plus side, Wasabi is a nice restaurant that offers a gorgeous view of the mountains from their deck and the service was pleasant.
