I will agree with the majority of reviewers -- a significant cut above the usual NL deep fried/deep fried/deep fried, in a very attractive setting with a very pleasant wait staff. Scallops were cooked perfectly, but served with a curious candied caramel sauce. (Ask for it on the side and ignore it). The salmon was a bit on the sweet side for our taste, but cooked perfectly, i.e medium rare toward rare. The fish cakes were potato-based -- essentially "fish knishes" -- but very tasty. A busy place, so make a reservation -- and make it early, because like many NL restaurants, the kitchen closes at 8pm.
We went to Woodstock as a special treat for my Mom on her birthday. I kept asking her throughout the meal how she was enjoying it.
When we ordered the Rack of Lamb we did not expect a whole rack but that is what we got done to perfection! The service was attentive and the views were magnificent.
The Tea Garden is an amazing restaurant with top notch food, service, ambience and a stellar view. My guest and I both agreed the cod we had was the best we had ever eaten, and we've had cod throughout Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The restaurant was so amazing, I would even recommend a trip from St. John's just to visit this venue. We'll be back and we'll not forget our meal or the amazing homemade desserts. You won't find a better restarting in Newfoundland. Reservations are recommended as several groups were unable to dine when they dropped in without one.
