Fab afternoon tea, service and views! Would recommend!
Went on our yearly visit this time on Valentine's day special tea with which we had Prosecco Found it a lot better having more savoury items on the tower and less sweet things ,as always service and food good as expected .as to earlier 1 star rating all the hot air probably dried the bread out
This was my third visit and definitely the last. The tearoom is cosy and has a nice atmosphere however both service and food were terrible today! We went to the tea room as part of my mum 's 60th birthday celebrations and ordered 4 traditional and 4 Yorkshire afternoon teas with prosecco. We also asked for pots of tea when the food arrived. The prosecco arrived first and then out came 4 towers of food. We were informed they had clubbed two afternoon teas together per tower the same on each). This made things very difficult as we were planning on sharing a yorkshire and a traditional between two. We spent most of the meal trying to split things evenly and ended up arguing about it! The pots of tea arrived 20 minutes into the meal after several attempts at getting the waitresses attention and we were only given two pots for 8 people. The food itself was very disappointing. I 'm not sure who thinks a piece of stale bread with a thin slice of ham thrown on to top constitutes to a 'wonderful afternoon tea ' but for the price, I thought it was almost insulting. The cakes and scones were not homemade and the only decent thing to eat came from Brindon Addy 's butchers and it was half a scotch egg and half a pork pie for £17.50). We asked for the bill which again was a long process in both getting the waitress ' attention and then for her to produce it), split it between the table and left a tip £120 bill). The restaurant then attempted to ring my younger sister 7 times as she was driving home to inform us there had been a mistake with the bill. Originally the restaurant admitted they had given us a bill for a different table and so we agreed to pay the difference when we got home over the phone no apology or offer of a discount to be given for the inconvenience). When ringing to settle the remaining balance, the waitress accused us of purposely not paying enough and that she had definitely given us the correct bill. My mother had actually brought the bill home which proved the waitress ' mistake and wrongful accusations. So overall, terrible and overpriced food, dishonest staff and ruined birthday celebrations.
