One of my favorite breakfast spots! I love the city center, and I'm thrilled that there's a new holiday location close to home! The food was fantastic as always. I tried the Creole Benny (usually I stick with the chicken and waffles), and I think I’ve found a new favorite! View all feedback.
What Stephanie Garcia doesn't like about Pig A Jelly Jar Holladay:
The ordering process was a bit unusual since you had to pay first and then find a seat to wait for your food. The food was quite tasty, but unfortunately, it upset my stomach later in the day. The waitstaff were very friendly and clearly very busy. We requested refills and condiments, but they never arrived, likely due to the fact that there were only two people serving the entire restaurant. I hope they hire more st... View all feedback.
I have been going to the one close to liberty for years. Tried the one in holladay since it is closer to me. Ordered DoorDash and had many issues. If you?re charging almost $8 for an orange juice please give the whole order to the dasher please. Ordered the ham hash. Things just got worse from here, my egg was completely fried and overcooked. Unable to be eaten except for the yolk, this is a major part of this dish and putting that in my box was unacceptable. I?ve worked in MANY restaurants and that is a very easy thing to spot and remake. This doesn?t even taste like the same dish that it used to be, overuse of the aioli, so much that I almost missed the giant hair that decided to join me for breakfast. I don?t make many reviews but ew all around.
The photo tells the whole story. Scrumptious, Flavorful food, that is so good, you wipe the bowl clean with the toast. Delish. 11/10 recommend the chimichuri plate. ? what an excellent place to grab lunch, lively homey interior, and kind staff. A new favorite brunch spot. Try it out, you won?t be disappointed ?
The food was excellent, but the atmosphere left something to be desired. It took quite a while to get a table, and I felt overwhelmed by the constant stream of social messaging around the place. It was also unusual that they require payment before you even sit down or receive your meal. I probably won't return, but I'm glad I had the chance to try it.
Having been here a few years ago when it wasn't cafe style dining, I was underwhelmed with the service. The food was good but it all came out at different times. There were 4 of us. Our entrees came out 10 minutes apart and the appetizers came in between. The new way of ordering was fine but the hostess needs to do a much better job explaining how it works to people who haven't been there since the change. Overall the server that came and explained everything was very friendly. I think the issue here lies with the hostess' lack of communication with costumers. We waited forever to get boxes and we were finally able to waive a server down to ask, she informed us they were at a self serve station. I gave 3 stars because the food was as good as I remember. If this review was strictly based on service, it would be a 1 start review. I kept thinking, wouldn't it be easier to just have people order at the table from their phones??? Bypass ordering at the counter all together and have the hostess do a little bit more explaining when she seats a table. We heard several other tables complaining about the awkward ordering so I think that area could use some fine tuning. I'm still not sure how refills on water work...
Pig a Jelly Jar needs to decide if it wants to be a casual dining experience or a fast-food experience. They have customers order at the front like fast food but charge them a service fee as if it?s casual dining. The owner claims in other reviews that ?The gratuity is to give everyone on our staff equal share of tips, and to get customers helped out as quickly as possible.? If the owner was concerned about equal pay, they would pay their staff more. As for their claim of ?as quickly as possible,? the staff are unmotivated by their ?guaranteed tip? and service is slow due to it. The only time the staff were present was when they delivered the drinks and meals that took longer to come out than they should have. Nobody was available to provide refills on drinks or other necessities. One might think the food would be the saving grace of this fast-casual restaurant, but that unfortunately is not the case. The selections were unique from other restaurants, but even with the variety of items on one?s plate, the food still lacked flavor. The economy may be harsh right now, but customers can find cheaper meals with more flavor elsewhere. All things considered, this restaurant was very clean and comfortable to sit in.
