58 Diner - Holden
58 Diner
Description
This small-town diner pairs nostalgic charm with hearty, homemade fare—huge burgers, hand-cut fries, curly fries, chicken strips and memorable biscuits and gravy. Parties and to-go orders are handled quickly, making it popular for groups and visitors. However, experiences vary: some guests praise the friendly staff and speedy service, while others report inconsistent food quality, service lapses and cleanliness concerns. Worth visiting for generous portions and classic comfort food, but be aware service and consistency can be uneven.

I've been looking forward to visiting this place for two months. I returned to Holden for the second time this year to try a restaurant, and it was fantastic. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and fried pickles, just like I did at Strate's, and both were excellent. The burger was one of the largest I've ever had, and the fried pickles were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. As for parking, the gravel lot added a nice touch.
We've passed by many times, it's usually always busy. We finally stopped today, got a to-go order. Chicken strips and a side. Three large pieces of chicken, and Suzie-Qs were fresh cut, the Mac and cheese with jalapenos were delicious ?. We'll be back.
Literally the worst experience I have ever experienced out! Our okra appetizer was burnt some pieces while most pieces were way undercooked and we never got the ranch we ordered with it. Literally the server never came back to us period at all after dropping off our appetizers. Another server brought us our meals, asking for the ranch we had ordered with our meals clearly wasn’t something we should have been asking her about! My daughter's food wasn’t even what she had ordered but close enough so I told her she had to deal with it because obviously no one was coming back to us at all. We never were given silverware, I waited hoping for it but after my family was done with what they were eating of their meals, I got up and saw our server rolling silverware and asked for some! My husband and my teenagers had finished their drinks with our appetizers and they sat with their empty cups and nothing to drink. The only napkin we had was the one my silverware I got myself was wrapped in. Four of people and one napkin! My son had bbq wings and since he ate with his fingers he really needed that napkin. My husband literally got up and walked out of the restaurant because he was livid and expecting me to blow a fuse! Calmly I walked up to the three at the counter and asked for our check and there was our server… as she rang us up on the register she said she couldn’t remember what our drinks were and nice me told her each one and she gave me our 65 or 68 dollar total and I paid her then I turned around and calmly walked out the door and then I lost it completely! Never ever will I go into that place … so much for that Holden experience huh? As mad as I was, I didn’t trust myself to handle what we were experiencing in there and didn’t want to embarrass my family by saying anything even at the start of our horrible service. I am embarrassed that I begged my husband and teenage children in there and finally they agreed and this is how our experience went! I’m still so mad an hour later that it’s hard to find words that can be used here! My first bad review and still just wish it could be more normalized to be able to voice one’s opinions for this service at the place they received it from instead of just being expected to spend our hard earned money because we choose to go out and eat there and go about to way! Smh… do freaking better for the ones that choose to walk into y’all’s business!
