The weather was nice, the woman wanted to drive and we opened the roof and drove to the Rheiner's Gellendorf district to make a visit to Heuwe's inn. Madame went ahead and we saw a sign in the door: closed society tonight. Okay, shame, go on....where? After Elte it should go to the Splenterkotten, also a guest house on our To Go list. We went ahead and what did we see? A sign: closed society tonight! Now a good advice was a little more expensive. Where? We turned our eyes and the car to Bevergern, and the Saltenhof fell into my eyes, from the outside when we went the Hermannsweg to Rheine. The approach was not so beautiful, at the entrance right into the industrial area, fortunately completely through and when the meadows open and you cross the bevergers Aa over the bridge to the Saltenhof you suddenly find yourself in a very beautiful, quiet and romantic place. That was our impression of the Saltenhof. The view of the main building and a park-like property, which opens up to the back of the meadows, opens with entrance to the courtyard. Back in the house a beautiful terrace for the beautiful summer evenings. Through a very tastefully decorated guest area in the house with stylish covered tables we entered the terrace. My anticipation rose, here were people in the (gastronomic) work, whose activities at the guest obviously meant something. The question of a table for two people was answered with a free choice of seats at the unoccupied tables. The house houses many cyclists who travel on the Emsradweg, so that this evening a large number of tables was occupied. The cards were handed over. I decided very quickly for the offered day menu with 4 courses at 32.50 Euro, my wife ordered a la Carte 2 courses. The card consists of a menu suggestion and about three pages dishes. The type and composition of the dishes are German-oriented, with regional and seasonal components. The greeting of the kitchen consisted of a herbal cucumber (with lots of cream) and an extremely tasty homemade fruit vegetable bread. I found in bread zucchini, apples, pear and onion. And this combination was really delicious. My menu consisted of: Pifferling Sterolen and Herbschmand Fountain Cresss (Sips) with salmon strips from Pifferlingsragout in Herbacepes with ham strips of raspberry parfait on egg liqueur foam In summary, I can give this menu a high level. I made pictures of the corridors that were good and tastefully crafted. All courses were freshly prepared and very tasty. Actually, there was nothing I would have stumbled on, visually or otherwise, and took on the attack. My wife ordered two courses, a carpaccio and filled zucchini on pasta with a tomato sauce. My wife had no complaint either. Instead of a dessert, she ordered an espresso and was as happy with dinner as I did. In the evening we accompanied a bottle of Riesling in the Bockssack from Würzburg, from Juliusspital in Würzburg 1st location in 2013. A good crisp fresh Riesling. The service was largely treated by a young lady who had no blows, although she had really much to do! Chapeau! A good training is really worthwhile, be it if you cover the terrace table or serve several meals at several tables in no time. Very good performance! Conclusion: For not exactly 100 EUR we had an unexpectedly beautiful evening in a small hotel with a restaurant that I would recommend. We like to come back. Next time by bike.
