Well this was our favourite Chinese Restaurant. Our family has been going here for years and the food has always been great. On this occasion the food was fair quality however the prices were over the top. The quantity of food served was also smaller and its a total shame this has occurred. Furthermore it the first time ever I have not seen the restaurant full on a Saturday night. This says it all. SHOCKED.

Having recently 'lost' our favourite Chinese Restaurant of near-on twenty-five [25] years to new ownership which unfortunately resulted in a change to all of our favourite dishes & sadly a drop in quality, we were on the lookout for a new venue. [Introducing the Dragon Temple]:Located in Altona & open for over twenty [20] years the Dragon Temple Chinese Restaurant has an extensive Menu that offers a wide variety of dishes ranging from the ever popular Noodles & Rice based options to Beef, Chicken, Seafood, Pork & a Vegetarian selection.The venue is licensed as to alcohol & caters for eating in, takeaway as well as home delivery for orders over $25.00. Décor appears pleasant with attractive pictures & light fixtures plus lovely art glass depicting a swan. [Entree's:]Their Mini Spring Rolls come in a serving of two [2] & are absolutely delicious. Not as 'mini' as we had anticipated they are very filling, so if hoping to leave room for a Main Meal you may do well to leave it at just the two - although they are very moreish.The same can be said of the home made Dim Sims. Each serve is presented as three [3] tasty morsels that are again larger than expected & as there is no skimping on the fillings these definitely satisfy.[ Main Meals ]:To date we have been pleased with all of the dishes sampled from their Main Menu. These include the Chilli Chicken with Vegetables, Szechuan Beef with Vegetables & the Singapore Noodles. In all instances the meat was tender, juicy & flavoursome. Vegetables have been well cooked & the portions balanced. We always request extra spicy & whilst not as hot as we make ourselves, they have been bitey enough to meet our 'heat' cravings. The Special Fried Rice is wonderful with prawns & all the other yum bits you expect to find in this particular dish.**Summary:I will freely admit to being particular when it comes to dining out & as an asthmatic whom is allergic to MSG I need to be incredibly careful when it comes to certain foods.Since 'discovering' the Dragon Temple my family has already dined on their cuisine three [3] times and so far all of our experiences have been wonderful.To date staff have been understanding as to my strict request for no MSG & had no problem working with me to avoid a potential disaster. They have even been diligent enough to advise me when something I may be ordering does contain it which I greatly appreciated. The staff are friendly & the home delivery service prompt. Servings are substantial & the prices comparable with their counterparts in the region. As customers we definitely received value for money - for example at the cost of just $37.00 we were able to feed the three of us with one entrée each, then just one serve of the Fried Rice & one serve of the Singapore Noodles shared - that includes an eleven year old with hollow legs!Suffice to say that all things considered we may have just found our new favourite Chinese restaurant that we can go to for the next twenty-five [25] years. :)Thank you for reading this review, we hope that it has been helpful.
