Khaow Thai - Hobart

It's a small joint but if you wanted to sit down and eat it's clean and cozy. The staff were friendly enough but they did get one of our orders wrong during a particularly slow time at the place. But they immediately served up a new plate once we asked them. It was the tastiest thai food I've had in tassie so far and I'll definitely visit again.

Inexpensive and fast service with friendly staff. The food is delicious and will not upset your tummy.

Funny little place, more like a plain cafe or takeaway shop than a restaurant. However, the food was surprisingly good, and some of our group have spent huge amounts of time in Thailand having teeth pulled - they do know good Thai when they eat it. Thai cooks out the back and young attractive Aussie waitress/order taker at the counter. We had come straight from the local pub, so some of the attitudes might have challenged some - not so staff here. Full marks for tolerance.We were a large group and basically took the place over, moving several tables together and brining along our BYO to boot. It would have been quite a scene.When we arrived there were no other customers. Although we did dominate when we entered, the place pretty much filled up as we ate, and it stayed that way. There was a constant procession of take away diners coming in and out, gauking at our lot and wondering where our manners were (I'm sure).This is not a fine dining experience, but it does have honest Thai food at quite inexpensive prices. Can't complain about the service or the staff's tolerance of clientele who have had a few pre dinner sherbets.Happy to recommend. Who knows? You may even enjoy the quirkiness. We did.

I had read some great reviews and some not. I think those in the 'not' are being a bit precious perhaps. This food was full of a range of vegetables, lovely and spicy as I asked for...too hot for my husband so that's a great indicator. Fresh and well priced. It's a takeaway place but if you decide to eat in then enjoy the food and forget about comparing it to eat-in places. Excellent quality food and they'll make it as you like. Lovely staff.

I have eaten at this friendly little restaurant frequently and never been disappointed. The staff are willing to advise and explain all the dishes on offer, serves are generous. And well presented. This is a good spot on the edge of the CBD to get a tasty quick meal.
