In my last night in Hobart, we were going to dinner. After online research, we chose the Customs House Hotel. It's one of the oldest hobarts.
Nice location for a quick lunch, I had the fish basket of the fish was a little too fishing tasting for my taste, my husband had the pig bell and a glass...
Two nights in hobart in the hotel. dinner was very nice and the breakfast every morning was also great.
Stayed there for 2 nights on our last leg of the Tassie Travel. The room came daily with breakfast choice. (You can choose a selection of breakfast and drinks from the breakfast menu) We had the egg Benedicts, corn-forter, baked eggs and Wallaby sausages for the 2 morning we were there. The breakfast part was very generous and delicious. My favorite was her Turkish bread "soldiers", they were so beautiful and crispy. Coffee on the other hand was just on the par.
It's a bit awkward when you want to eat between 3-6pm as a lot of restaurants, pubs are not open or not serving meals. So, by accident we found this place serving, so we looked at their menu and it's not cheap. All the Main starts over $30 and nothing that jumps out- typical pub meals. We were sick of paying a lot for something we don't even fancy. With this second trip in Tassie, we got a lot of disappointing food-same as last time- it's hard to find good place to eat. We thought Tassie was full of fresh food- but according to a local, all the seafood go to Melbourne and Sydney market first, then comes back to Tassie from there. Hmmm. Anyhow we ended up ordering 2 entrées, mussels in tomato and chilli & Salt and pepper calamari. They were around $16 mark. The serves were generous! And my partner was really happy with the mussels, I was more happy with their chilli oil than the calamari I ordered. Overall, both of the dishes were under seasoned, but their chilli oil certainly made up for it!
