Always nice, I usually go for the bain-marie for a quick lunch, but I've tried a couple of the cook to order options they're worth the wait! No matter what I'm eating, it's always accompanied by a drumstick, my absolute pick of the more snacky menu items. Recommended! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Chai Vegetarian Cuisine:
I came to lunch shortly after 1:30 a.m., and unfortunately eating in the bait marie was lukewarm, which was a real scandal, because the textures and aromas of the many mushroom dishes were especially great. I would recommend the order from the menu. View all feedback.
I have only been to this restaurant three times, and after the first visit, I had trouble catching them open due to lockdown restrictions. The food offered was what I was looking for, with plant-based options, and the flavors were mostly tofu-based. I enjoyed the dishes I tried, as I was looking for fried food with flavor rather than a focus on healthy options. The restaurant may have limited hours and food availability due to being located in a low-traffic arcade, especially during lockdowns. Overall, I would recommend visiting to show support for the establishment and to enjoy their vegan offerings. This review was updated on January 29, 2023.
Update 28.11.22: Chai Gen Xiang, also known as Chai, is a vegetarian restaurant that offers mostly vegan options. For $19, you can now choose from 3 dishes and rice or noodles. A small plate option is available for $16, while Korean Noodles and other dishes are priced at $22. Located on Mathers Lane, a charming alley between Liverpool and Bathurst Streets, Chai offers a variety of dishes including curry pot mixed vegetables and a selection of sushi rolls, spicy gluten "meat" rolls, and rice paper rolls. The menu also features Duo Dishes for two people like Layer Tofu and Sizzling Ginger Soya, as well as Cook-to-Order meals for one person such as Chili Hot Ho Fan and Korean Noodles. Unfortunately, she is no longer in business, which is a shame because she seemed really cool.
Despite their name they are essentially all vegan food. The Wheat meat they use for the BBQ stir-fry is to die for. I am yet to eat something of theirs that I don't like.
I have had some meal there before and I found the taste a little inconsistent and very greasy
