Cafe Lola - Hobart

First of all, it was the staff that hooked us in and had us return every day. Great coffee and tea. Of special interest and amusement was the toilet. Trust me, it's a must see.

We didn't expect Lola to be as good as it was, but it was a great start to the day. It is almost disguised in a corner shop at the bottom of an office building, but once inside it is light and energetic. For breakfast, Lola offers some alternatives to the standard bacon/egg/toasted sandwich (not that there are any issues with that - see my Retro Cafe or Raspberry Fool review for a heavier option). I found myself drawn to eat porridge which I would ordinarily run a mile from. It was warm, filling and tasty - perfect before heading out to MONA.Would I eat there again - Yes.

Yes and yes. Fresh Tasmanian produce presented in refreshing new ways. This small cafe/restaurant packs a tasty punch. The food is constantly good, staff always friendly and accommodating. It's always good to know you can go somewhere with a variety of food lovers in this day and age of quirky eaters, and everyone can get something they like. Highly recommend a lunch time visit.

Popped in here for a quick breakfast based on great reviews. Unfortunately it didn't deliver. Breakfast burrito was served slathered in mayonnaise! Disgusting and unnecessary. Fresh orange juice was undrinkable because it was full of pith. It was weak and watery and tasted of pith. So very disappointing considering the cost. I think the locals probably get great service for coffee but that's it. When we tried to discuss this with the manager or owner he was rude and dismissive. Very poor form.
