What Tyler Jones doesn't like about Asian Gourmet on the Pier:
Hi , service was slow . People left because they had waited over an hour for entree . They paid for their wine and left . The chow bouy as very ordinary . The Mongolian lamb was cold and had pineapple . Never heard of...that before . The wine by the glass obviously had been open for several days . For the price very very underwhelming View all feedback.
I would not rate it 1 if there is a selection of 0. This could be the worst restaurant (if it can be called a restaurant) in Australia. The steamed oysters were dry and tasteless, the damped fish was created on steam, as still frozen, you can present the final result. Even a simple fried rice was so strong, the shrimp seemed to seemed these Asian imports that no texture tasted, and small beef cubes tasted disgusting. We spent more than $ 80, just to drink a beer and a cup of tea. When asked how they cook the poured fish (10 thin piece size of 3 cm square @ $ 35 or so), they answered that they should order more expensive, which costs $ 80-200. My suggestion: Choose any place to eat blind, but this place.
Seriously the worst restarant in Hobart !! Descent to try an Asian cuisine after I had eaten Italian cuisine, seafood and Greek the nights before. We ordered Cantonese chicken, which was very very simple, the chicken was cooked with only onions and a little red Captiv, it was tasteless and the chicken has almost faked, which cost $ 27 for a very tiny plate. We then ordered a Moreton Bay Bug Teller, 38.50 USD such as cooked meat placed on a Sizzinh plate for $ 40, there was raw fat throughout the meat, and it just faked again. Do yourself a favor and go away, where else I was empty and dessert, even after we had said no, he asked again and again ... these people are obviously hungry and Clulnt takes care of the food. We were provided with 4 small glasses of water with the arrival when we arrived and the card refilled every two minutes, it was so annoying ... Try it with a drunk admiral or a local Italian, please do not make the mistake we did ...

Tonight we had plans of visiting a different Asian style restaurant but it was booked out. We called Asian gourmet on the pier and they easily accommodated our party of 10. Including prams and high chairs. Service was faultless and meals were delicious. $275 to feed us all 6 adults, 2 kids and 2 toddlers including a round of alcoholic drinks for the adults. The service was great, enough but not too much and the food was all delicious. One of the best Chinese I have had. The plates coming out of the kitchen were steaming hot and delicious with everything seemingly made on the spot. If we were locals this would be a favourite but we hope to dine in again before we leave.
Haven't been for some time to this restaurant so it was a pleasant surprise to find things had changed for the better. Staff friendly and professional. Food very nice overall. All our table enjoyed the night. Only comment would be that the Satay. Hi ken was quite spicy even though I asked if it was, and waiter said not at all. So if you order this dish beware it is quite "spicy"
