Contribute FeedbackLocated in a beautifully decorated venue, The Lancaster Arms offers a mixed dining experience that elicits both praise and criticism. While some guests rave about the attentive service, high-quality food options, and inviting atmosphere—highlighting specialties like the steak ale pie and delightful risotto—others express disappointment over long wait times, high prices, and unsatisfactory meals. Families often find the costs prohibitive, particularly for basic fare, while some patrons reported issues with reservations and service. Overall, The Lancaster Arms presents a charming locale that may appeal to some diners, but caution is advised for those seeking value and efficiency.
My wife recently dined at this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The flavors were amazing and the portion sizes were very generous. However, during our most recent visit, the food did not live up to our expectations. Despite looking appealing, it did not have the same fantastic flavors we had experienced before.
A word of caution for families with young children: it's best to avoid this restaurant. The prices for a basic Sunday dinner are excessive. After reading reviews, we decided to book for our first Sunday lunch with the family. While the food and atmosphere were pleasant, the prices were outrageously high. The Sunday platter for five was essentially the same as the platter for two, just with a few extra slices of meat. Priced at over £100 and served on children's plates, it felt like a rip-off. The kids' chicken nuggets were £8.50, a small glass of blackcurrant squash was £2, and a child's ice cream cone was £6. We left feeling like we had been taken advantage of and won't be returning. The service was slow and the prices were exorbitant for a simple Sunday lunch. We ended up spending £200 without any starters or desserts. The table next to us also had complaints. That says it all.
I visited yesterday and was very disappointed. When we went to the bar to order, we were told that burgers were not available at 6pm. So we ordered a pie instead. Unfortunately, the pastry was burnt and dry, and the vegetables were soft and tasteless. I will not be returning. It is such a shame because the bar and decor were beautiful.
We went last night and the food was not to a good standard the only thing to be cooked right was the steak soup was that thick could stand a spoon in it sweet chili prawns were just small prawns thrown in chili sauce and chucked on lettuce for the price was expecting king prawns chips were not chips they were wedges and they had been overcooked like bullets pies dry in side no gravy ask for gravy and were given some form of think-looking syrup that tasted vile said it was the chef's special gravy stroganoff served with mash strange mash was lumpy service could not fault the waitress was so apologetic and tried to sort for us but it was too late we had started eating as this was my mother-in-law's 80th, it was a bit of a let down will not be returning they did take the pies off bill personally needed to sort the chef out would not have even sent that food out myself and as I am a qualified chef myself was disappointed with the food Food: 1/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5
Visited The Lancaster Arms on a Friday late afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The staff and hosts were super friendly and attentive. Loved the interior decor with its references to Richard III. The risotto was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented with an aged parmesan crisp which was to die for. Repaired after the meal to the gorgeous gin terrace outside with drinks to chill in the twilight. Definitely planning a return visit to luxuriate under the stars in one of the domes with a few friends and something sparkly. Highly recommend!!!
