Just make sure to place your order via email the night before, as by 8:30 AM, most of the ones they prepared for the store were already sold out. Their soymilk lattes were also quite good. During my wait, I overheard the staff telling the group in front of me that more donuts would be ready in 20 minutes. Yet when I finally reached the front, I received the same message: no donuts unless I wanted to wait another 20 minutes. The best bakery I?ve been to! Bernie opened her doors with a smile, and from the moment she announced the menu her customers saw her passion on display! Her baked goods were delicious. She?s truly a kind soul with incredible talent. The brownie was the bestdessert I?ve tasted. Bernie?s staff is efficient and hardworking. It was refreshing to see a group of teenagers supporting herand working so hard! Bernie worked through the night to prepare goods for the next day, and it?s clear she cares deeply abouther work. Get there early because she will sell out, but you won?t find a better person than Bernie or a better bakery than ThePurple Cow. It?s going to be a tradition on our HHI trips!
Every time we are in Hilton Head we go to the Purple Cow! Both the kids and adults look forward to all the delicious treats. We get one of everything because we have never been disappointed and don?t want to miss out on a new creation. My favorites are thecinnamon roll and the salted caramel cinnamon roll. I love them so much I had them shipped to me for my birthday; it was soworth it too! I recommend this place to all my friends, family and acquaintances that say they are visiting the island. Get inearly because it?s so yummy they sell out fast each day. Also you can place an order the day before via email which comes inhandy if you are the bunch that likes to sleep in.
AMAZING baked donuts and muffins and coffee cakes! The donuts are baked, not fried, so have a texture that is more dense/cake-like. They also have a variety of other baked goods: I highly recommend the chocolate cinnamon roll- YUM! Tips: order ahead or go very early as they close when they sell out. Also, if you do not order ahead, keep in mind your order is capped at 1 dozen items.
The donuts were amazing! I know they advertise they are baked vs fried but honestly it didn't seem that big of a difference than a normal cake donut. We got ours gluten free vegan (except for some non-vegan toppings...hello, bacon! to accommodate the gluten dairy intolerances in our family. We made sure to email our order the night before and everything was ready at 9 am. My only complaint is they don't have a location near me in Florida!
Arrive early! My niece and I walked over a mile in the heat (totally our fault) only to arrive to cookies, muffins and scones leftovers. After cooling off, we ordered coffees (yes, lol) and she had a muffin and I had a scone and both were delicious. They have a boutique space where you can buy little Purple Cow trinkets and the space was very cute and welcoming. The staff was pretty welcoming and friendly.
