We were staying in the Kilcamb cottages next doors and felt like spending our last evening together in a restaurant. We checked Tripadvisor and this place was the one with the best marks. The food was indeed very nice and service was good. You can eat in either the brasserie or the restaurant, food is the same. The brasserie is just a bit less formal. We opted for the brasserie which just has a few tables only. Worth... View all feedback.
We weren't guests of the hotel, but managed to get a table for dinner. We arrived early for our booking, but were sat straight away. The service was excellent and attentive. We had the seafood specials--hake, which was most excellent and hearty portions! The mushroom risotto starter was absolutely fantastic and the dessert: assiette of lemon, was delicious. I'd highly recommend a meal here!
We actually ate in the main Restaurant not the brasserie but there isn't a review option for that but the food is the same. This was one of the best meals I've ever had and I've been to a few nice restaurants. I don't understand why it is only Michelin commended and not starred the food we had and its presentation certainly deserved to be. Service was excellent, lovely setting, and we thought it was very reasonably priced for the quality. Cannot praise it highly enough.
I really could not fault the food at this restaurant one of the best meals we have ever had. Absolutely delicious venison (with haggis, neeps tatties and pork belly. And the desserts were quite divine.Unfortunately there was no atmosphere here we were asked to arrive at either 6.45 or 8pm, but when we sat down at 6.45pm, there were no other diners in the Brasserie for over an hour.None of the staff seemed to be British, and there was confusion about my order (I ordered Fish Chips not Fizz Chips, and was presented with a glass of champagne, which they had to take away shame, I thought they might have just offered it to me anyway! .The waitress was very sweet, but did not seem to know that you serve people and clear away plates, from the side of that person, not leaning across others. She was also too keen to take our dessert order, when we really wanted to sit and wait a while for our main course to digest I think she came to our table 4 times to ask about desserts.I would like to give this restaurant 5 stars, but service let the place down slightly.
Simply special...the brasserie is a cosy dining area which is just how we like it. Scallops in a starter to die for and some of the finest fresh fish (hake with walnut and stilton crust and sea bass with samphire and shellfish nage) we've had in a while, beautifully presented with really fine accompaniments. The champagne was one of our favourites, from a little independent vineyard we've visited, and the staff were welcoming. What a treat! Thank you for one of the best meals we've had in ages.
Dinner with my husband and in laws . This is in a beautiful location with good car parking and views . Friendly staff and a pleasant dining room . The menu is good with prices to suit most budgets . I had a slow cooked pork belly burger a new one on me and it was delicious . The rest had the good old Fish Chips and that was excellent too. Recommended .
